This might be my last contract - SEO

Thank you guys for your interest, let me give more details.

Why so many pages:
Site has over 1 million articles and +20 million article listing pages.
Article listing pages are actually combinations of categories (long tail keywords are here).
Some article listing pages have pagination, up to 200 pages.

Content:
Each article listing pages display articles in a "unique and relevant" way with an algorithm. It's like Joe says "auto-generated content generated from a unique database he owns"

On page seo:
The on page optimization is actually good.

15,000 hits:
The site have at least 2 million pages dedicated to kwd phrases with "very low competition". So let's say %1 of them are ranked and they are getting 5 clicks/mo on average. 2,000,000*(5 click/mo)*0.01 = 3333 visitors/day.

About the client:
I choosed to work with him because in the country I live cost of living is much lower than US and he is a local client. If he see real results he will bring me much more customers by his connections. I told him the budget is too low repeatedly but he won't increase it.

I also don't understand why some of you are mocking me :) I'm saying what the clients say, and I choosed to work with him because of future benefits

He doesn't want to spend more than $1000 monthly and he wants to reach "15,000 daily traffic" in 6 months safely.

With that budget, you'll be really lucky to do this yourself / consult and find a different agency that knows the difference between their ass and what google is looking for post the nasty late May 2014 update.

I'm still trying to bribe grindstone to share his sekret formula with me, I am close, very close. I feel like Sheldon from Sponge bob.

All else fails, just buy as many aged domains as you can and go the slow rank n bank route. But you won't get to far on that budget. Unless you do everything yourself, and only work on this project.

We're mocking you because you posted this in the STS instead of the newbie section.

Yay, 20 million more pages of crap that people have to wade through to find what they are really looking for.

Guys I really appreciate your advice.

I want to work with this client because
1. I don't live in US. Cost of living is cheap here. 1 USD in here is like 5 USD in US.
2. I gotta have more portfolio and reference. I need to have a record of more clients.
3. This guy has an influence on his network. Even if I work for very cheap or have very little resources, still it means a lot. He understands the budget is too low for his needs.

So far most of you wrote to mock me, told me to stop, said $1000 and 15k/day omg.. except answering my questions :) Any volunteers?

You will both suffer. He - for giving a clueless newbie a shot; you - for getting fooled by "potential" and signing up for slavery.

Good luck bros.

Anyone in your situation, replying in this thread, would face the same problems you are having with clients of their own.

I'm pretty fucking good at SEO, yet, I face the same challenges as you

So really...

  • You need to solve a problem for a client
  • Ranking isn't easy, nor is it cheap, make a strong case here for more budget. (the more resources you have, the better you'll be looking in big G land)
  • Sure, it would be nice to have someone hold us all by the hand (reality check here, nobody fucking does this, we all face the same challenges)
Nut the fuck up, get about 10 more clients like this, write up an SEO proposal for each one, (ask them if stealing the traffic right out underneath out their top 3 competitors in the search engines is worth it, yes it's still possible)

Make the fucking case for a sale man. Don't fucking trip out over one fucking client. If they tell you to pound sand, contact all of their competitors. Do you know how many other businesses are desperate for any kind of help like this? It's a lot.

If nothing else, just do the work promised in your proposal.

Pretty sure if your client doesn't understand how the search engines work or has any kind of understanding on what it takes to rank, you don't want them as a client anyways.

OK... 1 million articles on 20 million pages...

Eaxh article appearing 20 times (or more)

No alarm bells yet?

This, too is on-site SEO

And I guarantee you, his on - page sucks. I'll prove it for a fee.

Can you estimate how many unique page-structures there are?

For example:
- Each article is unique, assuming you don't have duplicate articles.
- Pagination is unique; the 200+ pages can be optimized by optimizing the one structure.
- Misc. pages like "About," "Contact," etc. are all unique.

Figure out how many pages you'll actually have to optimize and your goal should look more realistic.

Here's the best advice you're gonna get...

The reason you care so much about this account is because you have no idea how to sell. And to be clear I understand that seo services are not an easy sale, most people need it bad more still have no fuckin idea what it is. But that Doesn't matter you need to learn how to sell.
Walk into a mid sized new car showroom (dress in a suit and tie) and ask to speak with the sales manager. Don't go there on a weekend or at the end of the month. About 11 AM is the perfect time. Tell him you want a job selling cars. Repeat this until you are hired if you're 1/2 smart and 1/2 well spoken this should only take a few different stores. Be friendly and likable and you'll be picked up instantly. Within 9 months you will know how to sell and you will know how to negotiate. Make friends with F&I they are almost always the best salesmen in the store. Also read a few books on sales: Ziglar, Kennedy, Hopkins - it doesn't matter who, because you don't know anything anyway.

This, too is on-site SEO
Not exactly.

In each article listing page, published part of the article is different. Only relevant part of the article is displayed. Article title and the link of the article is the same of course.

Article listing pages are almost idential in user interface. 4 to 8 types of unique listing page structure and 10 more unique page structures.

If you're insane enough to go for this (no offense but my guess is this will not end well for you) please could you make a case study out of it and write it up here. I am genuinely curious to see what happens.
