That was actually pretty moving. I've got a similar story just last week I was late for a meeting with a couple of clients, didn't have time to stop and get gas. I was about 10 miles away, headed over a bridge, and my car runs out of gas. I'm thinking ah fuck. I thought I would be stuck there for hours with no gas station in sight. Within 3 minutes of sitting there, some fellows pull up ask what's wrong, I explain I ran out of gas, they say ok pull just past my car, and I see about 20 gallon tanks of gas in the bed of their truck.. I was like holy shit?! They get out, cut out a make-shift funnel from a water bottle, poured the gas, at this point I'm relieved ready to pay anything for them helping me, I pull out $30 offering the guys my money, they did not accept. In return they give me a pamphlet about their church. Not my cup of tea, but I'd say I got pretty lucky in that situation.

Since then I've stopped and helped out 2 other vehicles stranded on the side of the road, all of them offered money but none was accepted.

Rambling going on here, just thought it was quite the coincidence to see this thread.
 
You can't do that in 3rd world countries anymore.

You'd get robbed and your GF raped by a gang ready to ambush you from behind the bush where the "broken" car is parked.
