Once again, I have decided to take it upon myself to correct popeye's terrible grammar. Please see below (errors in BOLD):

EDIT: BTW...if space weapons and spy sats are such a joke, then why are the Chinese so worried about them. Why are they spending billions on developing their own weapons? Why are they testing missiles to counteract our sats and weapons in space?

So I guess Bush had most of the Western World's intelligence community in his back pocket?? You do know that France, Britain, Germany among others, all had intelligence claiming Hussien had WMDs.

Add to all of the intelligence that we were recieving:

1) Israel had found and taken out a nuclear facility designed to make nuclear weapons in Iraq
2) Iraq had used chemical weapons against Iran
3) Hussein had used chemical weapons against the Kurds
4) We had found documents in the first Gulf war detailing the use of chemical and bio agents against the US and Israel.

Any resonable president would make a move to take Hussein out. The facts above along with the intelligence we were recieving from Europe and others, made the choice obvious.

Anyone can sit back and arm chair quarterback once the WMDs were not found. Would anyone still be crying about the Iraq invasion if they had found a suitcase nuke or two?????

Actually most European nations knew that the intelligence claiming there were wmd's in iraq were false. It was called the Downing Street Memo put out by the brits back in July 2002. "The Intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy." They knew we were making it up just to get support to invade the area. Saddam had very little to do with it other than initially being put into power to help us gain political and financial control of the area and then later gave us the finger.

Once again, the army is being used for political point scoring.
People are going to say how it's a bad idea, and the same tired right-wing BS line of "Support the troops" will be brought back.

The sad part is that the idiots who always say "Support the troops"
will be the ones calling for them to be brought home, and the people who traditionally have been saying we need to pull out of Iraq will have the table turned on them. They'll be wanting the troops to stay to actually get the job done right.
It's a very fucked up situation, and one that's been meticulously engineered to pull the rug out from anyone that's even mildly left of the current Government's moral standpoint.

And thus, fascist thought and right-wing sentiment gain yet a further foot hold in America.

Haha, yeah - "intelligence". The UK probably did have a lot of intelligence on Iraq. However, the fact that the summation of this intelligence was the dossier that Deliguy mentioned (that was in fact plagiarised from a Californian student's paper) indicates that the intelligence the UK did have showed that there was no major threat from Iraq. So they had to make some shit up. But they were too lazy so they downloaded and copied some university student's paper instead. Nice work.

Now let's move on to the day after it was published when Colin Powell addressed the UN and was "fulsome in his praise" of this dossier, claiming it was the latest British intelligence and showed conclusively that Iraq was a threat.

Although it's a horrible thought that anyone - Hitler or Bush - would do that to their own people and going down that route leads to seemingly-crazy theories that are just too scary to be true. Aren't they?

Still, it won't surprise when there's another 'attack' and President Obama is suddenly convinced that it's in America's best interests to send more poor kids to die fighting other poor sheeple that believe what their regime tells them.

I'm amazed that some people still think that this shit somehow makes America or the World more secure. That it is in any way patriotic.

Just look at who is gaining from this? Not the Iraq people who've traded a stable dictatorship for anarchy, not the poor kids who see joining the army as their only option, not the families of the same poor kids returning home in body bags, not the taxpayers watching more and more of their hard-earned cash disappearing as their country heads into a recession.

Damn right. This is common knowledge, has been proven time and time again, and has been that way for years now.

Did the wmd propaganda seem believable in 2001/2002? Sure, to a lot of people it did. But now it's 2008 and everyone knows they were bluffing. It's one of the oldest tricks in the book of war politics and affairs. You must give the people a reason to believe there is a reason to go to war. Otherwise they won't support it. When they smell bullshit later, it's too late.
 
I think Dead Ringer's (UK parody sketch show) did it best when they had their justification sketch:

Back around february of 2001 I had a hamster as a dorm room pet I named Osama. Everyone always asked what was up with his name and I was shocked that no one has ever heard of Osama Bin Ladin, this world famous terrorist. I was like damn, does no one read or have any idea what the hell is going on? They even talk about Osama and al qaeda in movies like super troopers and stuff. I figured it was common knowledge. No one had a clue, but I named him after him 'cus he always liked to bury himself in his shavings and them kick really hard and make little explosions in his cage. He was a little terror (pun intended). Suddenly he's getting older and getting to the end of his life and the twin towers gets hit and after that EVERYONE knew who Osama was and had all these very educated opinions about him as if they've known him their whole lives. Suddenly I was a jerk for naming my pet after someone who killed a bunch of Americans. A couple months ago none of these dumb shits even knew who he was now they're all opinionated about my pet. I even punched a guy in the lobby after he died and we were going to go bury him becuse he said he was glad he was dead.
