So I received an email from twitter today im not a twitter users and never use twitter. But I still receive the following email from there company. However when I go to there opt-out link it doesn't work. How the hell can they get away with not following Cam-spam Act? I never requested information from them and never want it. Myspace and facebook and all social sites are notorious for this B.S. what do you think?

XXXXX wants to keep up with you on Twitter To find out more about Twitter visit http://twitter.com/

About Twitter

Twitter is a unique approach to communication and networking based on the simple concept of status. What are you doing? What are your friends doing—right now? With Twitter, you may answer this question over SMS or the Web and the responses are shared between contacts.

Can Spam allows for "mistakes" affecting an optout link not working. e.g. server is down, ISP down. Even "whoops, my programmer forgot to attach a URL to the link" As long as they fix the problem sometime soon and dont repeatedly make the same mistake theyre fine.

BTW you got that email because I added your email to my database. LOL. You're gonna wake up tomorrow with 2000.

Read the bottom idiot. Blame your stupid friends for using Twitter, not Twitter itself. FaceBook and every other social site with profiles does this.

i tend to agree with him, though. i've had the same email address for several years, and i am in a LOT of people's address books. i get some bs invitation to some bs service at least a couple times a week, thanks to morons who add their entire webmail address book.

when the opt-out links don't work it makes plunge angry.

Actually a broken unsubscription link is no joke. And especially when you're talking about a giant corporation like Twitter. This could be big trouble for them.

It's not broken. It's hard to fucking un-subscribe, when you aren't subscribed in the first place..

Twitter can't do that check if any of your friends use it and may have sent you an invitation.
