Sonnen accepts the fight on 8 days notice, right after fighting for a title shot and Jones refuses. Such a puss.

This is going to give Sonnen such great material to work with for his trolling Jon Jones.

It's going to be great, can't wait.
 
Christ almighty Jon Jones needs to move up to fight at heavyweight already. I wonder how long they will milk him at 205 for...another year...two years...five years maybe lol

Though no doubt Machida gave him a tough time in the first round of their first fight and he is likely the only one that can beat Jones at 205 in the forseeable future (aside from crazy ass Sonnen maybe lol or even Anderson at 205 would be an epic fight).

I still don't even think Machida can beat him (and ima huge Machida fan), and if he does somehow beat him, the dude is the only one that is competition for Jones at 205 so it is silly to keep dragging on with Jones fighting at 205 anyway you look at it imo.

Except when you look at the $$$ to be made by keeping Jones at 205 I guess it makes sense, always follow the moolah...

I know everyone is pissed about the cancellation, but people being pissed at jones for not accepting the sonnen fight is retarded.

Do you guys not realize that this guy just got his ass whooped by silva?

Hes coming off a defeat and now he wants to fight jones in a different weight class for another title shot? That's a slap in the face to everyone in that division looking for a shot. Not to mention jones would kick his ass. Don't blame jones. Blame dana white and the match makers. If they can't build a card good enough to stand on its own legs if the main event goes down that's nobody's fault but theirs for making a shitty card.

I love sonnen. Hes a funny character and its pretty obvious the only reason he stepped up was because he knew dan would be out. He's doing it for the attention and everyone took the bait and now everyone is jumping on jones for not taking the fight when the guy doesn't deserve another title shot.

Sonnen doesn't deserve the fight period. These guys are professional fighters. This isn't back yard fighting. That's like going into your profession, asking you to build a website, marketing campaign, and everything else needed to run a successful product launch, then 8 days before launch they tell you the product changed and you got 8 days to come up with something new.


Either way don't blame jones. blame the match makers for throwing together a shitty card. He has no obligations to fight anyone else in only 8 days. He's a champion and you don't become a champion by fighting just anyone because you can. You build a strategy for who you fight in training. The contract was breached and he has every right to say no. But I think the main reason he doesn't want to is because he doesn't want to give sonnen the opportunity. He knows sonnen is just an attention whore. He makes his name off running his mouth and to deny sonnen is the ultimate fuck you.

MMA has gone to complete shit now that Zuffa has everything. I'd rather watch PRIDE reruns than a new UFC event.

So your telling me you would rather see jon jones fight a meaningless fight against washed up sonnen just to have a fight? And you call yourselves fight fans? I'd rather see jones fight someone relevant than have the belt out of contention for another 6 months.

Anyone Jones fights is going to be a joke, even most at HW. Not like it matters who he fights.

Exactly! Jon Jones would be stupid to have taken the fight. Unprepared for the opponent. Some could say Sonnen would have been unprepared too but the reality is that he got a title fight dangled in front of his face so of course he's gonna agree to it.

And like you said, you don't slap the face of the other fighters in the rankings.

Nice to see there are people online who think with their heads. I lost a bit of respect for Dana White after throwing one of his best champions - one who has fought either three or four times since Georges St. Pierre last stepped foot in the octagon (which was almost a year and a half ago) - under the bus.

What the fuck is this? The guy is 16-1 and perhaps his dominance has something to do with his camps and training? I doubt Greg Jackson, regarded as one of the best MMA trainers ever to walk the planet, was saying "Hey man remember all that shit from the last 8 weeks? Just throw that away and go with whatever."

Jones would have been a complete idiot to take this fight on Sept 1., but he did agree that he would fight Sonnen or anyone else later in September. Now the UFC is making itself look even stupider by dumping Sonnen (what... good for Sept. 1 but not Sept. 22?!?!), then going to Machida, and now Belfort.

Jones shouldn't be blamed for this, but Dana White is trying to move the fans against him. That's pathetic.
