Viral Nova Considering A Sale - Business Insider

DeLong wouldn't name a price, but did say he's thinking about selling Viral Nova for "well into seven figures."

"I'm entertaining a sale of the site. It's still growing and doing well, but it's becoming a bit too much for me alone and I don't really want to go down the path of opening an office, hiring people, etc.," DeLong wrote.

his traffic numbers are very interesting. just shows the power of FB. but the BI writer assumed a CPM of $2, not a HOPE he's earning that on that kind of 'meme' traffic for want of a better word.

Founded May 2013.

Over 100,000,000+ visits in December alone.

Her assumptions were apparently pretty good.

What I found interesting is that the facebook account paired up with the domain has a different name, although it does have history with the previous projects mentioned in the article.

Whoever buys the site will seriously regret it. The entire business model is a few tweaks by Facebook and co away from crashing down. Eventually people have got to tire of these 'viral' list/image based sites too. Feels a lot like Groupon

No need to wonder about the CPM, the revenues are stated as "well into 6 figures" per month. That puts the annual haul at a min of $1.2M. Digital properties being sold for a 5-10x multiple of revenues aren't unheard of.

Plus, the revenue is currently all from adsense. A dedicated direct ad sales team can at least triple whatever the current CPM is.
