Yeah it's not him, but there should be no question as to why people would jump to that conclusion.

The debate about guns and "how can we prevent this" is complete bullshit guys.

Here's the deal. Crazy people are crazy. If they decide to shoot up a school or bomb a playground, they will do it. For the rest of the population and the ones that end up in a looney bin beforehand it won't happen, but there is, and always will be that ONE who gets by and does something super fucked up. It's our society.

You'll see in the coming days and weeks, the big question will be how can this happen and who can we blame for it?

It's not the video games, it's not the violence on tv, it's not music, it's not the president of the school, it's not the cops who came to the rescue, it's not even the kid's parents. The only one to blame is the psychopath who carried it out and is now dead. That's all.

It's a really shitty situation and not fair at all either, but hey, life is not fair. I know I'm not a very sensitive person when it comes to things like this, but let's face it. Things like this, and things even worse than this happen every fucking day in the world, and yet, life goes on. Look at Darfur.. Over 300k dead. Thousands of them tortured to death. Kids killed. Etc.. Shit happens. People are the most brutal and fucked up animals on Earth.

So the next time something like this happens, and you feel bad about it, which is your right as a human to show emotions, just remember, that there is no excuse or blame for this stuff. You cannot stop it. Even if you lock up alllll fo the guns in the world, and try and round up all of the psychopaths, there will always be that one guy or girl who is completely normal, but put into a fucked up situation where he/she cracks and goes nuts, and if it isn't a gun they'll use then it's a hammer, or a bat, or anthrax or whatever else they can get their hands onto, and then the whole fucking blame game, finger pointing, and questions of "how can we prevent this?!" shit will just happen all over again.

It sucks. It does. But get on with your life, and just be glad it wasn't you or anyone you know directly involved. And just try to live your life to the fullest and best, because it can all be taken away that quickly and randomly in a place where you may consider it safe and non-threatening, you never fucking know.

I'll bet that Michael Moore will get back on his soapbox.

Fucking rights Bowling for columbine was a kick ass documentary not to mention the 911 ones, that guy makes pro ass shows, opens your eyes to what could really be going on.

I like Chris Rock's theory...let people have guns - but charge 10K for each bullet.

I Think it was actually 5K per bullet, that was a good show, he even went as far to talk about innocent bystanders.

I seen this on the news around 5PM (I live in canada) they showed that whole video and after watching it I felt quiet bad because the only thing I was thinking of is what type of cell is he using?, Takes fucking awesome video footage.

Anyway the whole problem we face is that the world is not this little heart of happiness our parents make it out to be when we are young, the world is still filled with killers, haters, rapers, whatever you want to call it, you could be killed by a bomb tonight, or shot in a store tomorrow almost anywhere you live, you just never know.

But you cannot let that stop you from living your life and moving on, yes bad things like this happen and they should never happen but the positive things about this statement is that their are more Good people in the world then bad people, well at least I'd hope so.

Cheers for putting it in perspective Jon.

On Sunday 43 people died in bomb attacks in Iraq yet that barely makes the news now. One life is worth the same as another right?

I don't know which is more fucked up: kids being checked for weapons at schools or people thinking that this could've been prevented if the kids at the college had guns.

Some people will always want to kill for there own reasons, there's not much that can be done to stop the random psychopaths... but please don't elect them to run your country! Whether you support him or not, it's a fact that Bush's actions have been responsible for 1000s more deaths than this lone gunman.

Just want to say, this is a great thread - It's really good to here (mostly) intelligent arguments and points of view and people disagreeing without getting into petty personal insults.

(PS The quote thing is fucked for me on this thread - keeps wanting to quote an earlier post ????)

Living in the UK I'd just like to say those people who say our rate of violent crime shows anything about gun control are completely wrong. Pre Dunblane there weren't hordes of people carrying guns waiting to stop criminals in the act.

The recent rise in gun crime in this country is directly connected to the prohibition of Class A drugs and in particular the rise in the use of cocaine and crack cocaine. Gangs are arming and shooting each other due to the massive profits and dangers involved in selling these drugs.

Whilst there have been plenty of shootings connected with such people, I have yet to see, since Dunblane, ANYTHING on the scale of this incident in the UK.

There is a very real and obvious reason why guns are different to hammers or knives and should be thus more controlled if not banned outright. Trying to kill 30 people with a knife would not only be physically exhasting, it would also be very difficult. Two big guys could easily knock you down the moment you pulled it out and pummel you. You can't kill several people in a few seconds with a knife or hammer with the ease you can with a gun.

I am *glad* to live in a society where guns are rare and largely owned by criminals and I do not consider rmyself any less 'free' because of it.

This is a really terrible incident and I feel for the families of all those involved.

I'd just like to add that:

The worst incidents of violence are bombs and in one case - box cutters.

Guns aren't weapons of mass destruction.

It's only when we create Gun Free Zones and a hostile environment to guns that mass killings happen.
