Canada... eh!
Open source, light and incredibly fucking useful. Can't believe I missed this one for so long.

VirtuaWin - Virtual Desktops for Windows

I always had like 30 little icons on my task bar, this fixes all that by letting me organize everything by sphere of thought.

Who needs multiple monitors, less neck strain too - just need to get into a routine in the way you organize things and you'll be flying high in no time.

I could imagine it works hand in hand with multiple monitors as well.. Must have some sort of support for it? Back in the day I'd use Synergy to link two laptops to my main desktop, I found it easier to organize that way rather than separate monitors alone.

Yeah, I love this app. Been using it for about a year on my XP desktop ever since becoming used to spaces on my notebook running gentoo.

It would be nice if Windows had Compiz...

... it does? its not called compiz, try seaching windows cube. infact there are so many different variations of compiz on windows its hard to choose

I've tried Cube Desktop, which is probably the best Windows version, but I still think Compiz renders better and has better tweaking options. I haven't compared lately I'll have to check for improvements.

nvanprooyen,
VirtuaWin.exe / CPU 00 (atm) / CPU Time 0:00:02 (over 7 hours) / Mem Usage 2,384K

UnripeArbiter,
I'm on XP, don't know how well it works but did some quick googling and some people have it on their windows 7 machines.

Rest of you,
What am I missing with all you guys linking 3d desktop cubes? I'm not bashing if you guys think it serves a purpose other than eye candy but I fail to see the point of wasting time rotating a cube when I can press 2 keys and have my second desktop instantly displayed.

Works great on Vista. 0% CPU, 500K Ram.
