I haven't watched the movie yet so I won't comment on michael moore's points, but I have seen with my own eyes that the system is broken. But I also don't believe that other nations have a cure all system either. I think we should maybe examine a giving extreme tax breaks and other financial incentives to insurance companies for each person they insure and cover during a medical crisis.

My main problem with insurance companies are the way they try weasel out of paying coverages. It's their job to be a profitable as possible so they have to do this. I am also conflicted because I also believe that capitalism 9 times out of ten will lead to better service. The power of incentives is a greater force than just giving money away.

Given the nature of this forum I'm surprised that more people don't lean this direction.

I haven't read this thread but I just watched the movie and fucking good work, mr.moore always makes good movies worth watching, it makes me curious to see how much of it actually holds weight, maybe if I can afford it one day I'll take a trip to france, england, and all those other places and keep the movie in mind.

Sorry , but my family is from Cuba. The healthcare system sucks ass there. The only way many people there survive is through the medicine donations we send from here, not to mention money as well, but that's a different story.

My mother went to visit her mother's burial ground in 1999 as she had previously not been able to get there in time to see her before she died. While walking on a sidewalk in Cuba, she fell in a huge pothole and severely broke her ankle. Her husband, my stepfather, had to rush and pay someone in order to get her to a hospital as there were no ambulances. Once they arrived at the hospital, they were again charged for EVERYTHING. The world renowned Cuban Doctors did such a bang up job putting a cast, that upon arriving back in the states, doctors had to perform multiple surgeries and place pins to hold the bone together. The doctor here in the states told my mother that had she not come in to see him and left the cast the Cubans put on her, she would have had a severe limp for the rest of here life. Luckily she doesn't, thanks to American doctors.

I don't know what it is about Micheal Moore and his ability to convince seemingly intelligent people about flat out lies, but I can tell you the Cuba thing is bullshit.

In Cuba there are two worlds , one for the tourists and one for the people. I know for a fact they took those people down there to the best tourist hospital on the island.

In Cuba, you think you can just walk up and use a beach in the tourist district if you are a citizen? Sorry, not allowed.

I could go on and on. But I have other shit to do.

The American medical system here is in a crisis, yes. But Micheal Moore is a liar and Cuban healthcare sucks. I will say it until I'm blue in the face. I dare someone from Cuba who has lived there, to challenge this.

Here's some info and pictures of Cuba's regular Hospitals. (scroll down a bit)
