I'm increasingly concerned with the quality of the water I'm drinking and want to buy a good quality water filter but I'm not sure where to start.

At the moment I am using a Brita filter jug system which I bought from the local supermarket. However, when I make a cup of tea or coffee there are lines of shit left around the inside of the cup which isn't from the tea itself, and that's after filtering through the jug, boiling in a kettle and straining through a mesh. The tea or coffee also has bubbly crap floating on the surface. I never saw these effects before I moved here.

Does anyone here have any experience / knowledge of a good way to go? I did some initial looking around and there seem to be a number of options and methods. Which method is best? Which suppliers do you trust?

Any input would be great. Thanks.

Pick one that will work for your family. They are Great. Only problem is you have to fill them. The other option would be to install a whole house filter to your water lines. But that may not get rid of shit like fluoride (if that's a concern).

An RE filter will get everything out. Unfortunately I hate the test of RE water. Good drinking water has minerals in it and it tastes the best too. Some people like the taste of RE water though.

You can send your water out to be tested by many different labs (private or government). The cost is not bad. Some tests are much more detailed than others. If you have nasty crap in your water its prob best to find out what it is first so that you can get the right filter to get it out. There's a small chance what you're seeing in the cups is mineral rings.. some water has much more minerals than others. If you have excess minerals in your water you'll want to install a water softener or your water-using appliances will get fucked up.

My well water isn't bad but I use whole-house sediment and carbon filters anyway, plus a water softener.

Yes my kettle gets very coated with calcium deposits and we have to buy sprays to dissolve calcium build-up on the shower head and taps etc. I don't mind minerals in the water so maybe getting a sample checked is a good idea. During the summer it got worse and I asked my GF what's happening and she said it's because of extra demand - I live 20 minutes from the Adriatic Sea which is packed with tourists from May - September.

If there is one thing I like it is pure water.
Currently I get mine from a pristine well.
If I am traveling I go with one of these for emergencies.
Life Straw

And then for home use I use a structured water carafe.
They really do make a difference. You can actually feel the water going through your throat smoother.
Structured Water Carafe

They are both great products.

*The last war will be for fresh water, that you can only buy with BTC.

This is crazy because I was just about to start the same thread.

I've owned multiple water filters throughout the years, but I was never satisfied. They start to degrade very quickly, plus they're all made of plastic which leaks BPA, a dangerous substance for men as it mimics estrogen / lowers testosterone...

I've been thinking about installing a whole house water filter, to get filtered water from all faucets. From what I've read online so far it seems to be the best and safest way to get quality water. I occasionally get very dry/itchy skin, especially after taking a shower, tried all types of lotions and supplements but nothing really worked... and I read a lot of comments that the high iodine in water can cause this, and various other conditions. Any gay webmaster in here has a whole house water filtering system?

I have a RO system in my main house like this one. [ame=http://www.amazon.com/iSpring-6-Stage-Reverse-Osmosis-Alkaline/dp/B005LJ8EXU/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1386806483&sr=8-2&keywords=reverse+osmosis]iSpring 75GPD 6-Stage Reverse Osmosis Alkaline Mineral Water Filter System - Amazon.com[/ame]

Installed in basement and ran water lines to a faucet next to sink as well as to the fridge for water / ice. Highly advise you run it to fridge if you use fridge made ice.

Really legit concern, imo, and I don't believe what I'm told about water quality by governmental entities that supply it.

I wish more people were concerned about this.

Not only do I not believe what I'm told by suppliers, but unless they're testing it from your tap, you have no idea. We're all experiments for plastic based water pipes at the moment, too. Do we really know the long term effects of running hot water through PVC pipes right now and consuming it? I don't, and I'm suspicious of anyone who says they do.

Love this one bud, but we're living in a building where its not possible to touch the water system and get it filtered.

Talked to my wife about it :) we're gonna get berkey and even if its big we're gonna set up something like this

So no need to fill those up manually
