What do you do when people find out you're a baller?

dammit. had this long ass reply to all this and it got deleted when I tried to post it... so to sum it up...

Approach conversations (even with people you meet briefly) as if you're marketing to them.

Because you are.

Make it about them. Show them how you can solve their problems. And guide them to the action you want.

Would you put together a lander for diet pills and call women fat, cellulite ridden bitches? Not if you wanted to actually sell those pills.

You'd show some empathy for their pains and show them how you could eliminate those pains.

So, why would you call a guy a peasant and refer to your awesomeness if you wanted to bang one of his chick friends?

That would be an automatic cockblock!

Bottom line is most people really don't give 2 fucks about you or what you do or how awesome you are.

If you make it about them, you're much more likely to get the results you want.

I find these days that even when someone asks me what I do, I rarely get into detail because I flip things back to them.

The issue you had last night or whenever has much more to do with your own problems than his, based on your OP.

I made the mistake of telling a friend that I was starting to do reasonably well financially again. Told him how much I had in the bank. He immediately asked to borrow $500. I said no. He then asks for $300, which I also say no to. Eventually after much begging, pleading and promises to repay me I give him $100.

Haven't heard from him in a couple months now and don't really expect to see my hundy back. Have pretty much written him off and no longer consider him a friend. Sad times... we used to hang out a lot.

Some of you guys think too much. I suspect the reality is, it's the ones who continue to post shit about handling success, women, what to tell other people etc actually have very little to be concerned about. Get back to work.

hahahaha I had the exact same thing happened to me but it was for $10! I also heard that the dude tried to commit suicide last summer too. A part of me just really want to tell him "Nigga you such a failure, you can't make $10 or even kill yourself right."

Small fee to pay for a potentially big problem.

if certain types of people find out how successful I am, they'll either become some puppy dog that follows me around like a celebrity OR they'll get self conscious around me OR they'll become resentful and say shit like "you were just lucky" or "rich bastard."

They're anchors, get rid of them. One unfortunate side effect of pushing hard to remove yourself from the whining, expectant masses is that once you start to succeed you will encounter those that will do anything to ensure you don't - simply because they lack what it takes. It's not your fault, so don't beat yourself up over it.

Yeah it sounds heartless or whatever but if you develop cancer, you don't wait around to see if it gets better. Jettison these people and keep moving to accomplish your goals - not theirs.

I was talking to two girls and one of their guy friends walked in. He was the guy friend. My intention was to befriend him so he'll feel comfortable with me going home with one of his female friends (they know each other from college) but, whoops, dude went 5150.

I'm not being rude here, but I'll try to deconstruct exactly what happened for you.

He's not their "guy friend." He's fucking one or both of them, or would like to be, or will be soon, or has before and plans to again.

You acted as if he's the gatekeeper of pussy. He replied by agreeing with you, and locking you out.

The point here is that he didn't want to share, and you acting as if he had a say in it was a bad move. He viewed you as competition, and lowered your perceived value in front of the girls.

I could be wrong, but from your description, it sounds like you were busy qualifying yourself to the guy, while the girls watched him pummel you. That will typically not get you laid.

Let's be honest though bro, you probably aren't that baller. Baller is $200k+ a year, and you ain't making that slanging links homieeeeeee.

This never comes up for me, pretty sure its because i never socialize but when I do I look like a peasant. Also when people ask what I do I just say I help businesses make more money and they get bored pretty quick with that.. why the fuck anyone would say how much they make is just beyond me though.

You sure you're not a me monster bro? Beware the me monster

Joined this board in April 2012. Started learning at an exponentail rate. Quit my job with American Express in March 2013 leaving behing my pittance $30,000 p/a sallary.

Now im not a baller by any standard but within six months I had smashed the UK VAT threshold and had moved had to move from sole trader to limited company.

I've never had this kind of disposable income before and it continues to grow at an exponential rate. I put a post on facebook commenting on how well things were going mentioning the VAT threshold forcing my hand. Result was some so called friends have shown their true colours/are no longer friends, I seem to have inspired a significant number of colleagues to try to start their own businesses and my immediate former managers ask ex-colleagues if they're coming to work for me in their exit interviews.

I also find myself tongue tied when talking to people about what I do / how well im doing. If im honest it tends to sour the conversation.

200K a year is no where near baller.

Well, I take that back. If you been making this steady for 10+ years, then I would say you are, maybe.

Also, I know several guys on this forum making more then that a year slingin links.

Speak for yourself, homie.

Lolz, not everybody's gonna act amazed that some people know how to make lots of money. And if you get your panties in a bunch because you can't prove yourself to everybody, you've already lost. Money won't make you not a whiny baby. Do your thing, whatever it is, but realize that most people don't care, as they shouldn't.

Better to keep this information to yourself. Every time I even subtlety hint that I'm financially stable to someone close to me, I end up regretting it. I still haven't figured out a good neutral way to disclose what I do to anyone. The automatic assumption when a younger bachelor tells anyone that they own their own business is that they are financially well off, and I don't like that.
