The buy/sell section looks just like the warriorforum. The most notable crap is low post count, iTrader, and little to no history members selling garbage services on here. It's actually worse than the newb paradise WaFo.

It actually seems like there are people who've mastered the account creation/purchasing of accounts on here and rehashing the same shit under different usernames.

Could it be a lack of moderators or just a lowering of standards?

Either way, I demand change for the sake of this community.

I completely agree with OP. Having the same thoughts lately. There's so much B***S**T on BST it screams for strictier regulation and higher standards. There are so many ways for it to get better.
 
Sometimes I feel like I need to work. This is rare, mind you. Then I start thinking about all the sites that need attention. Then I'm like, dang, I should probably just pay someone to do all this. Then I head over to B/S/T, get discouraged by all the bullshit, and then go back to playing Team Fortress.

You seem to have a shitload of BST posts with "PM me please".

So I'm really surprised you don't give a shit.. *ahem* unless you're profiting from it.

The least you could do is rep me for the boobs I posted.
 
I agree, and there haven't been many good informative posts in other sections either. Changes are needed...
Edit: although, the declining quality of WF keeps me more focused on doing actual work rather than reading posts.
 
Here's what I've seen happen in BST/Content over the last few years:

1. Providers try to undercut each other on price.*

2. WF members support the undercutting by going for the lowest-priced providers.

3. Waves of low-priced providers come to feast at the trough.

4. Higher-priced providers abandon BST.

End result: BST/Content transforms from an attractive mall into a flea market filled with "writers" who lack writing ability. A few good writers remain, but they're booked solid. They fear raising their rates lest customers abandon them for low-priced providers. Eventually, they will learn of greener pastures elsewhere, and abandon BST.

This environment attracts low-quality providers.

Most companies that need copy/content/blogs/etc. would never dream of coming to BST/Content for a writer. Doing so would be akin to digging through the trash to find an engagement ring for your partner.

The only way to maintain quality in other sections (notably, T&C) is to create a private forum, and invite a small number of people. Keep the population small.

Bans are a temporary solution with no long-term payoff.

...Only because the Bans aren't really done anymore. The Mods have TOTALLY dropped the ball on that one and it is apparent that Jon would rather have these newbie's banner clicks than even give upstanding mods like PJ the ability to ban the incredible newbie influx that has happened lately.

In the three years that I have been reading WF it has never even been close to as bad as it is now... You can expect a newbie to introduce themselves daily, and every thread has a couple brainless newbs posting in it!

That's "free market principals" at work Jake - embrace it.

We need more banhammers on here or we risk losing WF to the DP crowd. I know banhammers = regulations but without it the quality is turning to shit.

lol ain't gonna debate the "free market principles at work" thing with you. I know a rabbit hole when I see one. Let's agree to disagree. ;)

Regarding bans, they are a short-term solution because there is no barrier to entry before posting. Ban one person, and ten rise to take her place. It's like killing ants.

Keep in mind that WaFo and DP doled out bans like crazy for awhile. They probably still do. Didn't help them because there's no barrier to entry. Private forum, invite only. That's the only way to maintain quality control.
 
I wouldnt mind WickedFire being a paid forum, it will keep the riff raft out. At least make people selling shit sign up and maybe pay to be a 'vendor'.
