The switch should be pretty much instantaneous.
Another Google HQ would notice that Site1 has suddenly gone offline and it'll just switch the traffic through another route.

Google didnt like one of my firefox plugins, or some of my settings today. I was actually banned from searching for a bit. Banned from a search engine? What the fuck!


It got me thinking about my half dozen gmail accounts, my eight or so blogs on blogger, all the stuff I have stored in google docs, my adsense accout and all the other ways I you google everyday.

Imagine being cut off from those types of things all at once because google just thinks you're doing something wrong.

I'm looking to back everything up and stop just trusting the big G.

The question should have been what if terrorists took down every single one of Google's servers, then what kind of hell would ensue.

Or better yet what if they took down Yahoo, Google, and MSN servers all in one blow, all the major search engines would be gone.

Then what if smaller groups took out the little guys like ask.com and then about.com what if all the search engine servers were taking down at once.

How would we ever navigate around, oh wait we still have bookmarks and type-ins.......or what if they took down both those as well....

then what....

Actually, if Google went down for some mysterious reason, I think a lot of online marketers who rely almost solely on PPC would be very very fucked...

Thankfully, I still have a LOT of offline ideas that are often just as cheap, if not cheaper...
