What is the Domaining Section All About?

OK, that may sound like a simple question, and YES I have read many threads.

But I am trying to understand if some of you make a large percentage of your money just brokering domains, or if they are established websites, or what?

I actually have a reason for asking. Thanks!

I cannot read the thread. I am not really a newbie, but older than dinosaurs.
