www.eurekadiary.com
Today, I posted the first article on my blog (eurekadiary.com) since Mid-September. I have plenty of stuff I could write about but not enough time in the day. This bothers me for a couple reasons:

I choose not to write often because there are 10 other things that could make me money INSTEAD of eureka diary. I don't really monetize it. Although I believe I could start to monetize it and really make it a useful site for readers that also pays me dividends... but that would take even more of the time I don't have. Catch 22 indeed.

After all this time, I'm not sure I like the name. I've debated changing the name but then its like I'm starting all over in a sense and that's a lot of work to begin with... soo..... considering all of this, I guess there are 3 variables:

(a) To blog or not to blog
(b) Continue doing what I'm doing or go all out
(c) Keep EurekaDiary.com or change the name

The options in the poll reflect that. Part of the reason I bring up this question is because I hate doing a half ass job and I feel like that's what I'm doing now. I either want to decide I don't have time... pack my things and move on... or I want to actually make it a kick ass resource.

I'm probably going to leave my decision up to the results of this poll... but I reserve the right to not listen to anything you bastards say hehe. This should be interesting....

PS: votes are public because i respect some people's opinions more than others!

Write when you have something useful to say. There are blogs out there that turn me off with all the fluff they throw out there. I'd rather have one solid post a month than 100 that suck.

^ I often think of things to post about... but don't... because it would take 20 minutes of my time that currently, I'm not monetizing. But then again, maybe I should spend more time/effort into monetizing my blog.

Decisions, decisions, decisions.

Just leave it alone, or put your picture and bio on it if you're doing some consultation shizzle for offline biz

@Amanda: No more consultation work. Tried it for a split second but I hate dealing with clients and would rather build my own websites than get paid to build or market other people's stuff and deal with their own preferences, demands, needs, changes, time/schedule, etc...

I'm dealing with the same problem. I started a blog thinking I would post post post and then a few months later I'm just falling way behind. kevin boss dot net for reference.

I chose option 2 because that's what I currently do. Speaking of which maybe I should post something soon.

+1 to that comment I am about had it with client demands and the time they steal from other projects!

I agree with others some of the best blogs only post monthly if even that often..

I chose #2 also. I would continue on with it and if it takes off it takes off, if it doesn't it doesn't. I always have lots of projects going on and if one of them takes off I give that more time. If it doesn't, I continue to refine and chip away.

As for the name, I don't think that matters one bit. A name is a name and it's what's behind the name that's important.

I'd just continue to chip away at a pace you are comfortable with and continue to work on your other stuff also. Maybe a year from now you may notice some type of jump with the site and decide at that point it would be smart to really build it out more.

^ That's the whole point. I'm not foolish enough to think my AM Blog is going to randomly take off, convincing me to pour more time into it. It will take off because I have a lot of interesting/valid/good things (I think) to say, and decide to put some good work into the site.

Either I should just put it down and stop letting it bother me or man up, set aside a chunk of time everyday and make it another one of my focuses. In between ain't cuttin' it. At least not for me. Although it seems thats what everyone thinks i should do haha.

I would then say it depends on what other projects you have going on and where you are trying to go. If you are making more money with other stuff it may be worth letting it go and just moving on. Most people with blogs barely make any money and even those that do still aren't making much more than $2,000/mo.

If you really aren't feeling it with your blog I would consider just ending it and moving onto something you want to spend your time doing. You will probably make more money not blogging anyway.

I really think blogging has much more value in branding yourself and helping others and that type of thing, but in most cases a blog is not going to bring home the revenue.

regardless, you should put up a link to older posts on your home page... best post you ever wrote was the phpbay tutorial - and it's not accessible on the home page. or am i fucking blind? or is this some super affiliate trick that i'm just too fucking stupid to realize? FUCK!

I'd say keep it... I just recently started with EPN a few weeks ago and the phpbay start-to-finish tutorial you posted was one of the ones that I referenced when I built my first phpbay site... sometimes it's hard for me to think outside the porn industry box... as I've been working on getting more mainstream stuff going (trying to do less porn) and stuff like that has been a lot of help to me...
