What supplements do you take?

I've tried a bunch of different stuff but here's what I'm on now:

Pre-workout
Jack3d 2 scoops
Karbolyn 1 scoop
Creatine Monohydrate 5g
Fuckton of white carbs

Post-Workout
Karbolyn 1 scoop
*wait 10 mins*
Muscle milk 2 scoops
Big ass meal after

First time using karbolyn but I've noticed it really does
Give more energy/help with recovery when I do 5x5s.

This-

nothing... just lots of chicken/beef, brown rice, broccoli and protein powder. i drink lots of coffee too.

i've tried every supplement under the sun and they never really did anything for me.

And this-

Green Arrow DZN said:
Multivitamin, fish oil, milk thistle and lots of water and green tea. I also cook very healthy as well with lots of salmon, tuna, chicken and turkey with lots of fruits and veggies.

Otherwise the only 'supplement' that is going to do shit is some good ole Test and Dbol.

White carbs before a workout? You dont want to raise insulin levels until after your work out.

These guys when I haven't eaten fish in at least a week...

That's about it really. I occasionally take a general multi vitamin with probiotic if I'm feeling down but we eat a pretty well rounded died with lots of veg and fruits, especially greens like broccoli, asparagus, green beans, etc. so it's usually not necessary.

Oh, and ion eXtra of course ;)

I don't understand how any one self medicates on these supplements without a PhD on the subject. I want to start hitting the gym again after about roughly a year long break. Before I never took anything except a shake to help me put on weight because I was really skinny.

I'm thinking I'm going to take a Multi and Whey Protein, but then when I see stuff like Fish Oil and pre-workout Jack3d I just don't know how I'm supposed to make decisions on what I need without first pursuing a PhD in the subject?

Any help is appreciated.

I'm only responding to the fish oil because it's basically a no-brainer if you are not eating a diet with enough fish and nuts. The health benefits of Omega-3 are well documented, and can help things like cardiovascular function and concentration.

As for the rest of that stuff, I hardly work out, and feel much like you on the topic.

In addition to fish oil I also take a B complex, and D3 (doc recommended).

Some of you guys should really read up on some of the things you are taking, they are just snake oil (or acai) in a lot of cases. Nothing legal will beat eating well and training hard for most people. Maybe creatine (didn't work for me) and a protein supplement.

The absolute best site for learning about lifting and nutrition is T NATION | The Intelligent and Relentless Pursuit of Muscle

All their articles are cited and the forums are full of knowledgeable people. They also have a supplement store. Metabolic Drive (their protein powder) is the only protein I can take without peeing out of my ass, they dont have shitty low quality whey and mad sweeteners and flavoring like muscle milk. A lot of you should focus on a healthy diet and see the results you get before pumping in a bunch of shit products.

Im really surprised at a forum full of marketers falling for the BS marketing tactics of these supplement companies.

I like to keep it simple. I have been working out for a while now and the first supplement I took was creatine and have believed in it ever since. I also have mounds of protein at home along with some multi vitamins.

I must agree though nothing will help you if you don't eat right and work out hard.

I'll agree with BluueJammm here. Its all about the diet; throw away the hotpockets or any processed foods.
I only eat premium produce now, and looking forward to the summer farmers markets. I do take a pre workout shake for a little energy boost, thats about it. Still have the same big protein can I bougfht two years ago.

Googling it is a lot like reading this thread. Contradicting opinions on almost everything and it's pretty confusing to figure out what's what. I don't know enough nor have the time or desire to get into the very detailed sciences of the effects of each supplement. So I get what you're saying but I think it's an over simplification.

ya wickedfire is probably the last place I would ever ask for advice on supplements.

i'm dealing with stage 3 adrenal fatigue right now so i'm taking pregnenolone & DHEA 3x/day

also take protandim (decreases free radical damage, mad legit)
bacopa -- helps with memory and brain stuff

multivitamin blend from dr. kalish -- has fish oil and all sorts of good shit in it

whiteflood
orange triad
fish oil
whey protein

how long have you been lifting papajohn? those are good numbers
