DMCA notice is good, but the people stealing ferret's stuff will just move it to another, like MegaUpload or Rapidshare... Or worse yet, seed a torrent.

After sending the DMCA notice, ask them if they can either give you contact details for the original uploader, or forward a message on to them.
Explain that you're a small time programmer, and that you actively rely on that stuff for a living. If they're old school Scene pirates, they may actually take the stuff down and apologise.
If they're dicks about it, well, maybe you'll have enough contact infrom from esnips to sic Jon on em
