I know it's not really about coding but learning about web hosting is a good thing. When you learn how to generate good statistics (like AwStats), using mod_rewrite, automating processes through cron, using control panels (such as DirectAdmin and cPanel) and so on, you get to do pretty cool stuff. And not only you do cool stuff, you become a lot more productive.
