If the global elite and the leaders of this country don't want people to own guns, what's stopping them from passing a law through Congress right now that makes it illegal to buy or even own a gun?

They try to pass laws to change everything else, so why haven't they tried to pass this one yet? Do they not have enough people paid off to accomplish this feat yet or are they just afraid that gun owners won't give up their guns even with the law in effect?

Would like to hear opinions.

Because they secretly love guns. They need guns to move their drugs, do their killings, influence a global economy, influence the mind numb population. Ect ect

I know of two things in the US:

The NRA Lobby and the GoA lobby.

It sucks that an inalienable right should be defended by lobbyist money in washington but I guess that says fucktons about the state of our shitty system we put up with.

What you have seen in the media lately hasn't been an attack on Guns as much as it has been an attack on the NRA. I don't know how this kind of attack could stop their donors from sending them money to inflence the actual law, but it is certainly hurting their reputation among non members... Which will in time simply segregate the nation even more.

While at the same time growing their membership at record levels

Of course they could try and pass a law, and paying officials off isn't an issue, but they need more tact when dealing with something that affects a lot of people, such as gun control.

In those instances, after a problem is presented, or they help create the problem, they need a majority of the public onside to actually call for the solution, at which point they can then react in the public's (and their own) favour.

The Republicans.

But that kind of exposes the nuttiness of the whole "false left-right paradigm" crowd, so instead you'll get replies like the above which state the "elite" want to take away your guns and they simultaneously want you to have guns.

It's not difficult. Feinstein's bill might make it through the Senate, but it won't get through the House because the Republicans won't let it. This could be a setup for 2014; steal both houses in 2 years, then ram through a Feinstein-Hitler type bill with mandatory registration for all.

That makes more sense than any speculation I have heard yet.

Because you can't outlaw 200 million guns on Friday and expect to be able to show up for work on Monday without running into some of the owners along the way. It has to be done incrementally.

Maybe because they don't want to destroy the gun and violence loving, blood thirsty, war loving culture? Doesn't look like US military campaigns are going to die down anytime soon, so they are going to need some soldiers for them.

The Republicans.
While I grant you that republicans have by far the largest number of Gun owners and NRA members in their ranks, it is by no means exclusive to republicanism. They get that honor by virtue of simply being the biggest anti-liberal party. I personally know a democrat gun owner, for instance, and I don't know any libertarians, at all, who don't own a gun.

In fact I'd bet that a far greater percentage of libertarians are gun owners than republicans are, because we understand that guns are needed to stop a runaway government at our core.

So your argument is complete horseshit already.

But let's dig deeper since you apparently haven't learned your lesson about attacking the "false left-right paradigm crowd."

That certainly wouldn't be my response or the response of any thinking libertarian who feels that the left-right paradigm is a ruse...

I don't dislike the "elites" or the "1%." I want to be them in fact... And to be them, I just need money... I don't need to take guns away from the common man to be the 1%.

ONLY THE GOVERNMENT wants to remove your guns. They are a constant thorn in the side of statism... King James oh so wanted to get guns away from those uppity colonists across the pond back in the 1700s, but thankfully guns served Georgey and pals well in their intended duty.

Obomba would love nothing more than to melt down every gun in america but he's got a little problem... The MIC.

Like Matt mentioned, this is a War culture and the MIC pretty much tells our and many other governments exactly when and where to invade nowadays. Naturally, this will take troops, and troops need to be able to use guns.

So clearly there is even conflict within the government about removing our guns, at least until the MIC isn't controlling the government.

Feinstein's bill might make it through the Senate, but it won't get through the House because the Republicans won't let it.
All this means is that the MIC lobbyists have bought and paid for more republicans than they have democrats. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever for you to be kissing their asses so passionately; republicans aren't as virtuous as you seem to think they are.

THE GOVERNMENT wants to remove your guns..

"The government" is nothing more than an engine; lawmakers are the engineers.

The above statement is the typical simplistic doxy endemic of the "false left-right" fools.

Obomba would love nothing more than to melt down every gun in america but he's got a little problem... The MIC.

Ahh yes, "the government" wants to take away guns, there's no difference between the left and the right, but here steps a dastardly villain! The military, which wouldn't be affected by the law at all, is the only reason it won't get passed! Thank heavens someone could clear up this confusion!

the MIC pretty much tells our and many other governments exactly when and where to invade nowadays.

Yes, those military folks that are so powerful they couldn't stop sequestration and the billions of other cuts they are in line for.

troops need to be able to use guns...

Of course, the reason Feinstein's bill which has nothing to do with the military will not become law is because "troops need to use guns".

there is even conflict within the government about removing our guns...

You mean *gasp* there is "conflict" between the left and the right?

Blasphemy! Stop buying into that false paradigm!

the MIC lobbyists have bought and paid for more republicans than they have democrats.

There is no difference between Democrats and Republicans. Any perceived difference is due to the "false left-right paradigm".

Stop saying that there is a difference between the two parties.

As we all know, the faceless, nameless entity known as "the government" wants to take your guns, and since the government is populated by one party pretending to be two parties, I'm sure there *must* be a reason why they're not passing Feinstein's law.

There just must be.

I'm sure if I think long and hard enough, I could figure it out...

the nuttiness of the whole "false left-right paradigm" crowd

Left and right implies polar opposite directions. Democrats and Republicans may tend to vote completely different on certain issues, but look at their entire voting records and they are mostly steering the ship down the same middle path. They are Bud and Bud Light, not Guinness and Corona.

The federal Department of Education was created around 1980 and many would view it is a "leftist" creation. If Republicans were really "right" to that "left", then in years where they had the power since then they would have voted to eliminate it. Instead they always do the opposite and not only keep it going, but also raise the budget for it.

If the "right" wants a super strong US military with troops all over the world, then where is the "left" to that in congress? Any budget approved by Democrats always contains a relatively huge amount of military funding and its not like many of them push to bring troops home.

In 2008, 5 Republicans introduced this :

Assault Weapons Ban Reauthorization Act of 2008 (2008; 110th Congress H.R. 6257) - GovTrack.us

"The government" is nothing more than an engine; lawmakers are the engineers.
Actually, the government is in fact nothing but a delusion; I was using the word government to refer to the elected representatives that make up our congressional & executive branches (lawmakers) just like you, so you'd be able to follow along.

You're only confused because you lack a brain.

I never said the Military; I said the MIC, which is a bunch of Corporations that make their money from selling things to the military and the government in general under the guise of "defense contracting."

In case you haven't heard, that's kinda profitable, especially if their agenda morphs over from defense to Offense, which it clearly has. For more understanding on this subject, here's a republican president telling you exactly what happened with the MIC:

Clearly Ike wasn't wrong. He was our last general who became a president, I think that makes him qualified to talk on this subject.

Stop sounding like a retard. Do you really need any more proof of the two parties working together for the best interest of banks and big Corps?

Here, try explaining how this somewhat important budgetary decision came about if the the two parties are really so separate:

Why isnt Obama going after the 2.7 Trillion dollar cut?

Face it hellboy; both the dems and the repugs do what they are told by the corps and banks that control them; The real enemy here that you should be concerned with.

I know pretty much nothing about feinstein's bill nor do I care. If either party is involved, things will get worse as the laws stack up... That's the nature of all laws; each and every law passed is a restriction on some citizens' freedoms.

Libertarians always push for REMOVING laws. Can you say that about the republican party? If not, what does that say about republicans? Any 4 year old can see that the two parties have the same game plan (adding more restrictions on our freedoms to the books) as each other... They are just flavored differently so there is an illusion of choice.

When are you going to wake up and see the illusion isn't real?

They need to reach the point where ppl will beg them to ban guns, when the majority is sick and tired of "school shootings".

Remember their slogan is Order out of Chaos. Problem, reaction, solution. They control all 3, so in the end they always appear as "good guys".

The filthy rat lets the mask slip.
