When is excessive police / govt force authorized?

The idea of a "social credit score" as a tool for personal liability insurance is really interesting to me.

A tool like that could potentially streamline and improve everything from employment contracts, to rental agreements, to the purchase of firearms/narcotics/alcohol.

Of course, it would be extremely vulnerable to abuse, which is precisely why competition would be required in this area.

until you design the system to stamp it out. A good start would be merging a lot of these three letter agencies that seem to constantly overlap each other during investigations. I can't see how creating more disparate and distant police forces would make things any easier.

A single force is a bad idea. Multiple agencies can at least hold eachother accountable through investigations and prosecutions whereas a monopoly agency, even if run by the GOV, would have little to no external accountability.

e.g., FBI investigating local police misconduct

I SO love this thread.

Scott, Jake, Ice, you guys rock. Your insights are spot-on.

Scott and I have clashed in the past... he doesn't know my background, but we have very similar life experiences. VERY similar.

Jake and I? We often agree, and on this issue we are twinned. As far as Ice, I'm pretty sure he and I were separated at birth. The rest of you prolly just think I'm a trolling little dickhead, but that's OK.

My only caveat to all this is that it's up to YOU what you will accept from the ".gov". And I don't mean by your "vote", which means jack-shit in the great scheme of things.

No, you CAN opt-out (mostly) without growing your hair to your ass and living in a hand-built shack in the woods. Truth.

Those of you that matter know how to contact me if you want to discuss this further.

Good Luck Bros.

Oh, and Kiopa-san... "Authorized" & "Justified" mean two very different things. Write that down.
