The gods of online marketing. I don't mean people who write stuff like l33t.

Of course, some of them lurk here. I'm always amazed at the great people that are here sharing their great information (this is part of what make them people great). :bowdown:

I also notice that we seem to be bashing DP, SitePoint, Warrior Forum and other places as inferior. (I guess you'll always bash the others, right?)

When it comes to active people on here, there are not that many. This industry seems infinitely big ( form my perspective, not unlike a kid looking up at the starry night, wondering where all that ends)

So I wonder, if there are other forums and other group of people elsewhere that are on the same level but are unaware or don't mix with the WF people. Or other wise that WF people use as much and value as much.

Basically where do we stand in the grand scheme of things?

Since it doesn't get any better than WF. What other forums/sources are your favorite COMPLEMENTARY sources of information/network/contact/ressources?

Hairy, I've been doing this innernets thing for a long time. I haven't been at WF all that long but it's about the best free resource I've ever seen. I look at DP or SP once in a while and just get disgusted. Loaded with lamers and do-gooders. I'll go to one of them sometimes if I need to buy something and don't want to waste time hiring someone off elance but, for the most part, the info at those other places is so 1999 and the people are way too anal-retentive for my tastes.

Most people here are really cool and we do a lot of fucking around. But, when it comes to taking care of bizness, the people here can't be beat. There's a world class education available here, just for the taking... where else can you get that? Need help with something, just ask... people will come running to get you fixed up.

Some of the best products and services are available here. Seldom does anyone get screwed by a service provider here. *cough* Can't say the same for DP or SP.

Granted, Jon has tried implementing some paid features but I really think the community would suffer if he changed it from what it is right now. I really hope he doesn't make any drastic changes.
 
Are there good paying resources out there? Community-like resources?

Although the problem with that is that you usually end up with a bunch of rich idiots.

As far as I am concerned, I always prefer a free lunch :)

It's simple math.

There are 15000 registered members.
Very active members are in the dozens, maybe a few hundred.
There must be more heavy hitters in the industry AS A WHOLE. Not only those that make 10M a month, but those that make a GOOD living.

I know SP and DP and it doesn't compare to WF. Not sucking up, it's an observation.
I go where I find value, I don't waste time sucking up.

Personally, the more time I spend screwing around in Forums, the less money I make.

And yes there are folks just lurking that make gobs of money, but I have an explanation as to why they might not jump in head first at WF...

WickedFire can double edged sword (or a poisonous flower, whatever). Yes, it is by the best affiliate marketing forum on the internet. But I also think the fact that it can be quite immature and crass here turns a lot of people off.

I like the laid back environment here, but I have to roll my eyes when people make 'boobie' posts and stupid crap like that. If you want to see that, get a girlfriend or go to the strip club. Let's focus on making money.

I dunno, that's my two cents.
 
To ad my 2 cents here (what am I up to, at least 73 dollars now?) I see where aim is coming from. It is a double edged sword around here. You need the boobie posts, I guess, to encourage the laid back behavior but I think it also intimidates people, especially the ladies. But I don't think i would want it any other way and I think the Mods do a pretty good job of insuring that people aren't harassed or abused. So listen up lurkers, start getting more active and stop being pussies! Heh.

By LURKING, I did not necessarily mean people who are not active or contributing. I meant something as general as hang out.

i.e. We got a few hundred maybe thousand top affiliates. Where are the rest?

Speaking of numbers, I wonder how many people in the US make 100k+ affiliate marketing/ other online marketing. And what is this number by continent.

When I used to make more money doing AM and was mad busy I never went to any boards. Only when I had a weird question about hosting,scripts, or something.

Maybe not the best solution but back then there was no good boards at least that I knew of.

Might still be the case, there is no rule that says you have to go to AM forum if you are in AM and successful.
