Interesting article on the discriminatory policies against white folks in college admissions. It goes beyond just affirmative action, but even into how the schools decide who gets scholarships, financial aid etc. Pretty fucked up brah. I knew it was fucked up that a poor white boy like myself couldn't get any scholarships when I was younger, but I didn't realize we get raped on financial aid and shit too. Damn. Also covered - the myth of white privilege.

I know some white people who went to HBCUs on minority scholarships for that same reason.

I applied to grad school last fall and got a scholarship from a certain school. I then started browsing a site where people post their numbers/acceptances/scholarships for others to see.

I checked out the profile of a kid with the SAME EXACT NUMBERS AS ME, but he was minority so he got DOUBLE MY SCHOLARSHIP MONEY.

Now that you mention it I've never seen a Caucasian only scholarship.

No, cause that'd be racist. But its perfectly OK to have latino and black only scholarships because they've always been a minority and had it harder.

Irony, if it were made of strawberries, we'd be drinking alot of strawberry milkshakes right now.

I did pretty good on the lsat but my gpa isn't spectacular, but I see URM's getting into harvard law with my numbers. I'm like you have to fucking be kidding me.

@BluAffiliate When has somebody who's Jewish ever historically been given preferential treatment for anything? I think in general Jews had it much worse than African Americans and I don't see Jews benefiting from affirmative action.

It should be illegal to ask for a person's race on any application form. The color of a person's skin is not relevant to anything. Affirmative Action based on race is the definition of racism.

America is a great country precisely because of the fact that "in theory" the system is color blind and that in the eyes of the law all people are equal.
Of course, in practice this does not always happen, but maintaining these divisions by constantly using skin color as a factor doesn't do anybody any good.

That makes sense for the rich white folks, but I guess you didn't read the article. Most white people didn't come from backgrounds like that and wouldn't know the 'ol boy network, preferential mortgage treatment or catching a break from the cops any more than a minority would. So not only have poor white people never seen those types of benefits, but there aren't any laws protecting them from those types of discrimination like there are for minorities.

Protip: Next time read the article so you don't make yourself look retarded.

People are still falling for this white guilt bullshit?

The whole "Sins of the father" shit, My grandfather (on my dad's side) is racist, I know for a fact he is, and I of course don't approve. But what he did or said in life is not my fault as I wasn't even born yet.

The way you get past that shit is to just simply get past it, not the whole "well your daddy, granddaddy, ancestors, etc", fact is by this point in our evolution and melting pot so to speak, EVERYBODY's ancestors has owned slaves, murdered someone, raped someone, or simply discriminated against someone, depends on how far back you really want to take it. For all we know some of the black preachers might have a great great uncle who was in the S.S.

Yeah this shit pisses me off. The fact of the matter is the white guilt isn't going away until the black people stop having the "oh poor me attitude". Yeah I am well aware not all of them have this attitude, but at least with the kids I know (college aged kids) EVERYTHING goes back to race. They get in trouble? It's because they're black. They get a bad grade on an essay? It's because they're black.

I actually had a kid in high scohol a few years ago get mad at the teacher after she sent him to the dean for flipping him the bird. After that he was bitching and whining as he was walking out saying "it's because I am black blah blah blah". I'm like no you fucking moron it's BECAUSE you're black you will just get a slap on the wrist. I probably would've been expelled for the same shit (white male), but they are afraid to get those people in too much trouble because there has been a few instances of the person taking legal action and stating race as the reason for whatever.

Listen to Bill Cosby or Clarence Thomas on it sometime, these guys know whats up. They are telling the black community to wake the fuck up and grow up.

And why am I focused on black people? Because I don't give a fuck what you say that is why things like affirmative action were created, we didn't have all the Mexicans back then.

And you know what I have some good friends who are Jews, they were persecuted and murdered not too long ago (way after slavery) and don't give me this oh well the blacks faced prejudice, you know what they had millions murdered less than one hundred years ago and I have NEVER heard a single one of them bitch and whine about it as a reason for being unsuccessful or whatever else they want to use it for. Now black people? I hear you guys bitching every day about the system and why you are held down. I have some black friends who are quite successful and they don't bitch. To the rest of you, fuck you and your affirmative action.

Random OT Rant:

"Lucky your parents can help us with the down payment"

My first thought is: so now I'm being looked down upon because my parents take care of family? Shit, you all do realize that that shit is confused all the time? You have X because you're white! No, I have X because my parents raised me a certain way. You have a good job because you're white! No, I have a good "job" because I started doing work in this field at 11 years old because my parents pushed me towards it.

People confuse the whole "race benefits" thing with upbringing a little too much for my taste. It's not my fault that my parents pushed me in a certain direction, and yours didn't.
