Who are you voting for in November?

  • Barack Obama

    Votes: 14 28.6%
  • Gary Johnson (assumed independent)

    Votes: 5 10.2%
  • Not voting, the ghost of Ron Paul, Nader, etc

    Votes: 24 49.0%

  • Total voters
    49

Do you actually think an independent like Gary Johnson can become President out of the blue?

No, but if 3rd party and independent candidates combined can gain just a few percentage points every election, then in the grand scheme of things it is not too long before they end up with 10 or 20 percent of the total. This would make it much harder for the media to ignore them. As shown with Ross Perot, media coverage and being in the debates is enough to give a person a chance regardless of political party.

Voting for 3rd parties also helps them maintain ballot status, as some states grant them an automatic spot on the ballot if they received a certain percent of the vote in the previous election. Johnson is running for the Libertarian party nomination and I believe they will have ballot access in most or all states.

In order of likelihood: Not voting, Gary Johnson if he is the LP nominee ( if they select an unemployed "activist" I'm passing), or Voting for Ron Paul ( and the future decline or transformation of GOP) by voting for Obama.

lol @ the Obama votes.

I'm voting for vermin supreme.

What we need is the option to vote no confidence. Wouldn't that be an awesome majority vote?

That'd be soooooo satisfying... Of course what's next then? What happens when the entire country writes "no confidence" across their ballots?

I think that means WE are supposed to take the next step... So why bother to write it or vote at all? Just go march the troops into DC now. You'll have the element of surprise that way.
