Who here is a prepper?

What's the ROI on all that work and purchases if there isn't an apocalypse in their lifetime?
Depends on how much the Doomsday Preppers show pays.

As for me, I've got a good shotgun and have always been inclined to store more food than I can use, but I simply refuse to be a sucker enough to "own" property on this continent... So living in apartments kinda limits my doomsday prepping options.

Even if I move to BKK, I want to live in one of the high rises, not out in the country like Geomark and Kiopa_Matt... Geomark is well prepped and fortified up there... If I had time before the event I think I'd try to make a run for his property. ;)

Rule #2 of prepping. If you stock up on nothing more than ammo and lighters you will survive much longer than your typical food prepper. There are 2 reasons. You can always barter with the above. If trading doesn't work you can always just go out and take what you need. You should aim for 10000 rounds of the most popular rounds (even if u don't own that weapon) to trade. 9mm, .45, 12 gauge,40s&w, .22 and some rifle rounds to boot.

He stocked 2 year supply of toilet paper ... LOL! What a tool.

Lol at those who say "I would rather die than live in doomsday situation". You just talk like than, but if that happens I bet you would want to live. You just think that you won't want to live but when it comes to it you would be fighting for your life.

I just completed my Doctorate from the Army Rangers 3rd Jump School of Avionics and Preparation Worse-Case Sceanario Apocalypse School. With that PhD you can call me
Wait for it ....

Dr. Prepper

You act as though you'd be the best shot out there. Having a gun isn't going to guarantee anything. Especially if you're combating with a group of soldiers, or old military family.

Nobody said anything about shooting. The main gist was built around trading ammo and lighters for things like food and water. If your forced to resort to robbing, your going to go out and do survalince at night to make sure you don't fuck with the wrong people. You are going to prey on the week. Rob from women and children if that's what's necessary. In a doomsday scenario the week will die first. Strength comes in numbers You need to form small vigilante groups

You missed the point, which was to highlight the most valuable items worth overstocking because they are high demand and not to worry about two years of toilet paper. Extra bullets and fire will get you toilet paper and food when you run out.

Also knives, fresnel lenses, water filters, air filters and first aid are worth overstocking as well.

If there ever was a nuclear holocaust then I would rather just die rather than live on some bunker. What kind of life is that?

Even if it's just a global crash(which will never happen and anyone that understands economics and finance knows why), then what kind of life is living on a farm having to constantly worry about 'marauders'. Sounds like a zombie movie.. Having to train your family with guns, constantly practice, monitor crap at night.. Uh, what a nightmare. Again, give me death rather than that crap.

Very few lifeforms on Earth live in a reality much different than that.

The engineering guy in the first video has some skills. Did you notice the truck that runs on gasification? i've been wanting to build a test processor for a while now. Super cool way to produce your own fuel.

I probably have 6 months worth of food and other supplies. It definitely helps you sleep at night

1st season was decent for a staged show.

season 2 they staged drama, which was obviously shit, but the girls were hotter and some dood built a forge.

So I bought a portable bbq today for when I go to the river, I was putting it together and fucking sliced my finger pretty bad. In my medical supplies I did a temp stich, and used this molleskin. If any of you are stockpiling, fucking order molleskin! This shits fucking rad, strong, works well. Its on my hand right now, its been holding up like a bandaid on steroids.

Just an update for the preppers... I have catgut (sterile) and stitched my finger. It hurt like a bitch, one of the things I didn't have was a numbing agent of some sort. Although I had the gloves, sterile needle/holder, catgut, on hand - I thought when the time came I would either pound JD or take some of the various drugs I have in my supply (muscle relaxers, simple tylenol, etc). Anyhow, I've been researching numbing agents since I last posted above and bought Lidocaine.

Anyone have/use that?

Dude, go to a freaking hospital. You could lose your damn hand to something like gangrene if you aren't completely, utterly sterilized in everything you touch today.

Sheesh. It's one thing to be prepared, and totally another to turn down safe practices that usually keep people alive just so you can practice being prepared...

I'm not sure if I have an opinion about Dresden stitching himself up and cauterizing his own wounds with black power like Stallone in Rambo III, but I do have an opinion about hospitals.

They are dirty, dirty places, filled with things that can kill you, and unless you have a situation that you absolutely cannot handle on your own, you are probably better off staying away from them.

EDIT: it's supposed to read "cauterizing his own wounds with black powder", but I made a funny typo, so I'm leaving it in.
