PM me. I want to meet up. Probably will be here 6 months instead of BKK.

EDIT: Something something peasant something shithole something poor.

My lady and I are also planning to be in Chiang Mai for a while, hopefully in a few months. I know that's far away, but a PM is highly likely because you know the burrito shop inside the wall that makes GIANT burritos. . . those burritos are meant to be raced.
and excellent guacamole there

Good. Reach out.

Please do. I got cut off by a waiter the other day; we'll show 'em how we eat.

where you staying?

I'm staying here, this month, but I'm in the loft, which doesn't have pictures or prices online. The monthly rates are more reasonable, but frankly, like ly2, I'm just a sucker for shiny things and you know how it is here...

I'm setting up in an office here soon and then I'll downgrade my apartment a bit.

Why do people prefer Chiang Mai over Bangkok/Phuket/Koh Samui? (honest question; I'm sure there's some good reason)

Wish I was. Hows the weather? Isn't it rainy season at the moment? Been thinking about taking a holiday to Koh Samui for a Muay Thai camp in August... that may change to Ibiza.

Bangkok is a huge city, with all the love/hate that comes with city life. For the next 6 months, Chiang Mai will be big enough for me... Never been to Phuket. Koh Samui is a totally different world - that's island life... Although everyone outside of BKK is more relaxed than in BKK, which is bad for my goals.

Weather is great. Rainy season means it just pours awesomely for a half hour every day or two and then it's nice and cool after for the rest of the day.

Not a big polluted city, better food, nicer people, less eurotrash, 2 awesome mountains to explore with amazing stuff on/around them. If you love beaches, sure, go to the south. If you love nightlife, bangkok is better. If you like hiking and hanging out in a more relaxed city, nothing beats chiang mai =)

why don't you talk about the other reason it's your fav city bruh

I was in Bangkok, Koh Samui & Koh Tao in May. I'm planning on going back to Thailand with my wife in January for a few months - most likely being based in Chiang Mai. Would be interested in connecting with folks there.

Does anyone have experience with getting an education visa to train muay thai? Would rather do that than Thai language classes, but the idea of an education visa appeals to me.

Or combine beaches with more than two awesome mountains to explore.

BUMPING FOR GREAT INTEREST!

I was leaning more towards language classes- Anyone care to shed some light on this?
