I've heard that Vitamin D is good for a lot of things including preventing getting sick and regulating the body's sensitivity to insulin. Anybody got any experience with taking high doses of this for the long term?

It cured her aids.

You should take it with another vit to help in its absorption or some shit. Magnesium or calcium, I dunno, something like that.

I take vit d with fish oil, htp and daily vitamin pak. In our game you need to be in your right mind in order to take advantage of the slightest opportunity; I find this combination helps to keep me more or less sane.

Buy a dropper. Pills are too expensive most of the time. A $15-20 dropper will last you at least a half a year if you're dosing on the high side of things. Take 4k-8k/day when the UV index is < 3 and 0-4k/day if it's over (and go outside). No more winter blues. It takes a little while for your levels to be back to normal. Also, you might have a little bit of trouble sleeping if you take it at night as opposed to the morning. Essential supplement if you live in a colder climate and don't get out much/at all.

I don't take it every day, but I drop 1000-2000 IU in softgels when I haven't been out of my cave for a few days or if I'm feeling a bit down along with these bad boys, some omegas 3, 6, 7 & 9s if I haven't eaten fish in a week.

Did you know that Harvard reckons close to 100,000 people die every year from omega deficiency?

Eat yer fish bros.

I take aprox 5600ui a day...not sure if I actually notice any difference, haven't tried not taking it since I started. I spend a lot of my days inside, especially this time of year.

I take 1000UI a day and a multivitamin daily as well (that has 400UI vitamin D too). Don't know if it produces any noticeable differences but there's no doubt that most of us are getting less vitamin D than we should be getting.

I take it. I had my vitamin D levels tested and they were very very low. I think it's common to have low levels when you sit in front of the computer all day.

Many chronic and major diseases have one thing in common.. low vitamin d levels.

I take 5000 IU a day.

Same here, my level was extremely low to the point where your bones start to soften. Used to get sick all the time, generally throat infections. Been taking 5000IU a day for the last 18 months and haven't been sick once during that time which is amazing. Not even a runny nose.

Had my level checked about a year into taking it and I was no longer extremely deficient but just below normal, and that's with taking 5000IU a day. Taking anything less would do jack shit to increase the level. I think we'll find the RDI's will be significantly increased in the future.

Anyway I'll be taking at least 5000IU a day until I die.
