Who here uses bitcoin?

maplesyrupghost - check out lukep's signature link - there is a big thread on this

new. favorite. thread. w00t, bitcoin has already penetrated wickedfire! thx for the tip!
Wondering when you'd stumble across that...

We've been talking about bitcoin for years on here, at least since the big spike... But there are too many trade jockeys on here like stockfire that think they know everything there is to know about money and keep stirring up arguments, so I decided to make that thread a month ago to set the record straight.

Even still, among us anarchists on here, there is still a lot of controversy about the ability for bitcoin to last. Our resident economics guru (Guerilla, who doesn't like to be called a guru ;)) doesn't think it can last simply because bitcoin isn't a commodity.

However I've argued that our need for a government-free currency gives it a value like a commodity anyway, so it might just be one afterall. Like crackp0t says above, software has value, so I can see how Bitcoins do too... But Guerilla isn't budging. Do you have any logs to throw on that fire?

I wasn't overly surprised to see bitcoin on here, I honestly should have looked a little harder for it.

Bitcoin doesn't need a commodity to have value. All something needs to have value is a demand. People demand bitcoin because they need it, for a ton of different reasons, and that demand increases it's value.

I have many logs to throw on that fire, but right now I need some sleep. To be continued!
