This isn't a problem confined to AM. I teach a short course one a year at my local college on a totally different subject and students (all adults) are always in two camps. One will read the coursework, practise and pass their exams. The other will argue over things they don't agree with (even though they are talking to someone who knows EVERYTHING about the damn subject), ask questions that are in the course notes, will show absolutely no initiative at all (google it motherfucker, GOOGLE IT) and will constantly have the attitude that I am hiding some magic shortcut that will save them from practising their skills and reading through their coursework. And ultimately I fuck up and roll my eyes at a student who is having a duh moment and asking a genuine question, just because I am so fed up to the back teeth of the other type of student. Such is life.
I really enjoyed that post. I know exactly what you mean with people. My sister is in her early 30s and has been taking a paid course for a certification (ie, several thousand dollars for a 3-4 month course). She always tells me about this guy in her class who is, essentially, the definition of what you were talking about. So you know that personality type is out there, whether they're forced into the class (ala highschool) or select it on their own (and in this case, pay rather handsomely for it).

Wow, reading this thread gave me three different thoughts.
1. Weird world. The rest of us our risking skin cancer to get a tan.
2. I GOT RICKROLLED FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MONTHS ON THIS THREAD, AND I HATE YOU ALL!
3. I would say the average IQ on this board is about 30 points higher, but not everybody is as smart as you people.
I was on DP and saw an interesting post about an affiliate program with the link large and clear in the sig line. About 20 people posted to get a PM with the link. A couple of people, including the original poster, came back to tell everybody the link was in the sig.
Then, amazingly, 20 more people asked for a PM. I was like....wow, these people must be stoned and stupid. They aren't even worth spamming.
On a serious note, why isn't there a WF shop? I think I asked about this a couple months ago. I want to rock the shirt/hoodie.
Speaking of IQ, I estimate that DP's average is slightly below room temperature.
