Yep, we are hiring again.. Seems as if we are growing at a pretty rapid pace, and we need more people to help out than we already have.
This is a volunteer job, but you will be given mod status if you are chosen.
The position status itself is in our news section.
We need people to find and report on news that effects our industry as a whole. Whether they are just rumors or full blown important stories. Your job is to research the news wires and find links to the full stories. You may repost the entire article just so long as you give a source link back to the original. The best type of reporting is when you re-write the original article in your own words and maybe give it a WF feel (aka profanity with a touch of sarcasm), it's not required, but definitely preferred, although some things look better in their original form.
I want WickedFire's news section to be a well respected area for people to visit when it comes to news about the industry, but not just every piece of it, just the important stuff that matters. I know there are tons of you out there that have a knack for research, so now is the time to finally put it to some good use, for yourselves and to make the community better.
When the new WickedFire resource section launches, there will be an area for the news team, and you will be given more than just a moderator position, but an actual news team title, so that you can get free media passes to events through us, which also includes conferences. When going to conferences you will be representing WF as a journalist and you will also be introduced to other media pals of the industry, so try not to flash anyone until at least the last day of the show. It will also help develop your status as an industry journalist rather than just some researcher. Only long term and good things will come of this position, so if this is not something you are interested in pursuing, don't bother applying.
I don't have a limit on the amount of people I want for the position, so it's open to all who think they have what it takes. If you already write for another site or already run a news area for yourself or friends, then it's definitely a plus for you when it comes time for reviewing.
Here's what I need from you:
1- Five links of stories/blogs that are original and written by you exclusively.
2- Why you think you should be chosen for this position.
3- How many news stories do you think you can post to the site each week? (written by you or someone else's story, makes no difference)
4- Your AIM screen name and/or phone number (US/Canada numbers only, international folks will have to rely on AIM).
5- How would you like to change the industry, from a news reporting perspective, if you had the chance to do so?
Email all inquiries to me at jon AT wickedfire.com -- Make sure you put "WF NEWS APP" as the subject, or you may hit my spam filter and it will be auto-deleted.
Best of luck to everyone who applies!
