Are they going to shut down the entire site, or just change the background color to black, or what?

Google isn't going to shut down their search engine for any amount of time...

edit:

Wikipedia will shut down access from midnight Eastern Standard Time on Tuesday night until midnight Wednesday.

That's an old news. G, FB, Amazon, Twitter are not going to blackout probably. But Wikipedia has announced the blackout officially today.

Agreed, more sites should commit to doing this. Craigslist put a little banner up, but this is a lot more noticeable

I heard that GoogleHammer.com is also planing a blackout. Waiting for the official statement from the GoogleHammer officials.

And don't know if HBWA is planing too for a blackout.

Who thinks of these names?

Don't drop the SOPA, peeps!

From a marketing perspecitve. If you've got sites that rank behind wikipedia and you're not preparing for a traffic surge or making your site more attractive to potential wikipedia refugees for that day you're doing it wrong...

wikipedia should get a lot of respect for this
governments (left, center and right) all over the world are out to limit our rights and freedoms, its unfortunate that not more people are realizing it.
