Windows 7 Beta: Likey/No Likey?

I installed and played with Windows 7 today. The installation was nice and smooth. It picked up all of my hardware without a problem.

The operating system itself is such a big improvement over vista.

Although I'm not crazy enough to install this beta version as my main os, I will definitely be using this over xp once it's released.

I have vista on my pc at work and i HATE IT!

I've had a pleasant Win 7 experience even after the BSOD I got which was fixed with a reboot and thanks to automatic disk mirroring I was back up and running in minutes (no disk inserted either it's all built in). I like the speed of the menus and everything is very visually pleasing compared to other OS' out there on the market right now (like OSX bitch) I'm in 64 bit and running Steam and all other applications that I thought would not work were 100% and ran way better (I get MUCH higher FPS in HL2 games on my lappy). Not one problem so far (in having the 7000 64-bit build for 1 month now).

Since you're using it now, can you list at least a few functionality advantages it has compared to Vista?

All I know is that it is just a Beta. I won't waste time installing it in my PC and carrying all the risks.

I just installed windows 7 on my backup comp, and so far its been totally smooth, and pretty much on par with my XP install in terms of speed.

Lets hope Microsoft is onto something with this and doesnt end up making it a clunky mess like Vista.

Been running it for a few days now and it's pretty smooth. Some software like Ultramon no longer works but the new Windows features fill in the gap.

The taskbar is the biggest annoyance for me because it groups all the Firefox windows into one icon. But the new start menu features are pretty cool.

I switched over from Vista 2008 Server, which worked flawlessly for me. I'm running Windows 7 on a new box (i7 920) so I can't really comment on the speed.
