WMPU - want a quick $100 AdWords traffic?

Long story short... I want to have a working installation of WPMU by Saturday and it's giving me uphill (never worked with MU before...)

I've got 2 x $50 worth of AdWords coupons that are only valid in USA and Canada so they are of no use to me.

If you know your way around WPMU (probably any PHP programmer will be able to work it through) drop me a quick PM and I'll trade you my $100 in G traffic for an installation.

Just need a base install.. I'll handle all the plugins, customisation etc - shouldn't take more than 10 - 15 minutes I think.

I've got WordPress MultiUser installed now, but when trying to use it I'm getting PHP errors.

I'd like to have it running by Satuday so I can announce it at a metal festival that I'm going to. I am friends with the organizers and a lot of the bands so I'll be able to have it announced from the stage quite a few times. It'll be a pity to miss this window of opportunity just because I can't get the bastard running in time!

Any codeheads wanna take a quick look at it? I'm serious about the $100 AdWords coupons. I'll also throw in some permanent link love from the home page to sweeten the deal!
 
dude to be honest Adwords coupons aren't what they used to be lol

today you can get those 50$ coupons pretty much everywhere...
 
I second that guess.

Get a small vps and you will be happier.... and those php errors will probably go away. OR just post your errors and we can guide you probably.

It's a good idea to at least be able to install MU because if you have problems later you will just have to keep begging/paying for help.

Yup - I just had the idea yesterday so I'm throwing it up on a HostGator baby account to see if it gets any traction.

It'll never be a money site but if I play my cards right it should generate some sweet link love to throw at my money sites.

Fuck - I might as well spill the idea.... I doubt anybody will steal it outright but feel free to adopt, adapt and use in your own situations..

Basically I want to set up a BuddyPress site and position it as a sorta FaceBook for headbangers in South Africa. As mentioned earlier I can get some great coverage if I announce it at the MotherFudd festival this weekend, and the fact the the Guiness book of World records will be there to verify the "Most people headbanging simultaneously" world record should make for some tasty link bait to kick things off. I recon maybe a couple of hundred users to start with.

I had it working quite nicely with a regular WP install but a lot of the plugins I want to use demand MU.

Fuck knows what will happen in May with the release of WP3 when they consolidate the Wp and MU codebases, but I just got off the phone with Uplinked who offered to help me out (he was a bit surprised to get a phone call from Africa right out of the blue :-) so it should be up in a few hours. Loads of titty pics for all when he comes through, so feel free to put some pressure on him ;-)
 
Why not set up a Ning site to build up your membership and do a single WP site on the side to promote it and pull the Ning feeds? You'll be up and running by morning. In the meantime you can learn more about MU/Buddypress and develop that on the side. I guarantee you that someone will come with a Ning to Buddypress migration tool by the time you are set to go "full press". Get to work.
 
I would wait to WP 3.0. But it will probably get pushed back.

WPMU might not work right on Hostgator as it is now. That is if you want wildcard subdomains on the fly.

Not totally sure. WPMU is a pain for us non tech people. I ditched my few installs of WPMU and switched them to seperate WP installs.

I'm busy as hell on a paid project at the moment, but I'll fart around with it later and see if i can get it ready for tomorrow.

I'll try catch some titty pics at the festival - even if i have to buy beers for some sluts. If I get no luck I'll post some "generics" on Monday.

BTW - I'll be spending the weekend wearing a mankini (I must learn to say NO to dares!) - No pics of that that though... it'll just earn me a boat load of neg rep :-)
