So I remember reading a post from Osglass about how he likes to use Wordpress for easy sites, and Joomla for bigger, more complicated ones.

Would Wordpress work ok to make landing pages with? I tried using Weebly, but people here told me to forget that.

Here's the thing. I don't know dick about building sites, so I need to find the easiest way possible to make a good page Google won't slap.

And here's a dilemma I'm having, Wordpress's T&C are strict as hell. I mean no Adsense?

Anyway, I could really use a bit of advice here. Thanks.

And a little gift for you guys, just to say thanks:

Buy a domain and download wordpress, you can then put whatever you like on there. Never used Wordpress for landing pages although i am sure it can be done. I use free css templates and just edit them in dreamweaver when creating landing pages.

Wordpress T&C are strict as hell?

If you aint setup with some hosting and the ability to install a simple CMS then you in trouble mate!

Personally I think WordPress is a great tool to build sites with. SEO ready with tons of readymade plugins for you to enjoy.

Also I sometimes dont like to think of a landing page in its original sense. Be original with your content and dont make it look like a simple ad. The most important thing is make it convert - so just start testing stuff, Ive now begun to see some real results with this method. Dont follow the sheep, grow your own fucking sheep!

Woohoo

Yeah, I guess so, considering I have no idea what you're saying, as far as the CMS deal. I'm set up with Host4Profit, and have a few domains with them, but I don't even know what the hell CMS is. Maybe I can do it, maybe not.

This is truly the only thing that's holding me back from making some REAL money online. I need to find out:

1) The best way to make a quick site
2) The best way to have it lain out
3) Ummm, I guess 1&2 pretty much covered it actually

I can pick offers. I can find many keywords. I can make shit happen, except for finding a formula that works for me as far as making a site.

Thanks for the advice BTW.

wordpress is a great tool for making landing sites (forget landing pages). I have even used hosted wordpress through wordpress.com with success - downside their of course is the other advertising you have to deal with.

Yes... you can use Wordpress to make a simple landing page, some basic pages (About Us, Contact, Privacy, Disclaimer), and some article/review pages to link off the landing page (as a means to improve QS -- if you're using Adwords).

The best theme I've found to manage this is Semiologic.

You can download the free theme here:

Semiologic

The key is using "Pages" instead of posts to create the site as a mini-site or CMS (content management system) instead of a blog.

Since you've already stated your struggles with creating a website, you'd probably find it helpful to watch some videos of the entire process.

Although the product isn't mine, I'd suggest Long Tail Cash if you want videos of how to create a mini-site using Wordpress and the Semiologic theme (Video #7):

Best of luck

Forget landing pages huh? Fair enough. How many pages do you normally have on one of your 'landing sites'?

Also, what about Blogger. Would that work as well for what I'm looking for?

Grab an old copy of Dreamweaver and spend 30 minutes going through some tutorials. I still can't code html by hand very well but I literally learned how to build my first site with Dreamweaver in a matter of hours.

And if you're at all serious about this get some hosting, get a domain, and learn how to install wordpress. Hell, most hosting companies have one click WP installs in Cpanel.

if your host doesn't have fanastico you could pay someone like $20 bucks or so to set it up for you... literally only takes a few minutes just research a bit

themadpaddy,

If you use auto installation for wordpress at your hosting provider, you may not be able to make certain upgrades when new versions of wp and its plug ins are introduced. As was said above, you should have someone install it for you, and if possible, have them explain exactly what they are doing. Also, get a host with live help, so you can ask them as many hosting questions as you can. I'm not sure if there are host reviews here, but just find a reputable review site and look for live help and excellent customer service.
