I've been having wrist pain for the past two months. Started looking into changing my typing habits. From what I hear this could lead to something serious. Anybody have any tips for workspace and typing habits.

I have memory foam pads. One for my mouse pad and the other just a straight thing that goes directly in front of the keyboard. They have helped a LOT. I picked them up on a whim when walking around Target or Walmart or some place like that a few years ago. I seem to remember that both together were only about $20 or so.

Good idea, haven't considered that yet. Nice to hear from people who sit in from of the computer all day. I was just looking at pictures of carpal tunnel surgeries, nasty stuff.

Lol
If that was the case it would only be my left wrist. The problem is to much working, I've been on a roll lately.

Hairy palms too?

Just kiddin'. Be especially careful not only of posture but try to vary your activities on the computer, even though that kills productivity to some extent.

You may not realize how long you are spending on one type of action. I got pretty bad tendonitis years back from doing lots and lots of photoshop work. Your body isn't made to be moving a mouse with very fine control for long periods of time.

Problem went away later in life when I got employees. More meetings, more interruptions, more walking around to talk to people in between email sessions or excel crunching. Funny that no repetitive stresss was a benefit of that.

I use the foam pads and now a wrist glove on the mouse hand that my wife bought me. Helped out a ton actually.

ya, i broke my wrist a couple years ago and it hurts every once in awhile, but i put on a brace and it goes away overnight. go to a doctor or PT or somethin and get a brace

get those pads, they help a lot.

also get your weak ass in the gym and do some wrist exercises at the end of every workout. wrist curls and reverse wrist curls, and hammer wrist curls. your wrists will hurt a lot lot less if your muscles ain't puny

A real ergonomic chair and correct desk height will go a very long way. Touchpads and touchscreen LCDs help too. I haven't been able to use a mouse regularly for the past 4 years.

Looking into that right now. Even though I have a pretty nice setup - its just not working for my wrist health. Getting pretty bad, I'm in a bit of panic.

I was getting some bad handcramps a few years ago because of mainly typing with a few fingers (thank you FPS games). I bought one of those Microsoft ergonomic keyboards and mouse sets from Walmart for $30 or so.

The shifting in the keys (not too much) made me have to retrain my hands to type correctly since I don't like looking at the keys. That fixed my wrist and finger pain right there.

Also, make sure that you lift your wrists when typing. I noticed that I get pain much faster if I let my wrists touch the surface, even if you use one of those pads (which I don't use because they tend to rub my wrists raw).

Now, on a slightly related note (and I am surprised that this hasn't been put on Affiliate Networks) you might consider using Supple Beverage. It's an arthritis and joint reliever. The infomercial I saw on it last week claims that it cures it.

You the man. This the same problem I have. Amazon has it for $30 walmart for $50. Lots of really good reviews. Looks like it shifts the wrist angle a little. Just made the purchase.

and yes I agree there should be a rebill for wrist pain supplements.
