Yet another passenger plane missing :(

It is interesting to see how people react to plane crashes. The flight I just took back from Australia yesterday was sold out a week ago, but I was able to get a standby seat to Business Class and it left with 35 empty seats.

People do not look at these things logically, they instead are driven by base emotions. Probably a good lesson for us marketers, eh?

You're more likely to get murdered by a cop, than you are to die on an airplane

"As of February 2013, the MD-80 series has been involved in 61 incidents,[26] including 31 hull-loss accidents,[27] with 1,330 fatalities of occupants.[28]"

McDonnell Douglas MD-80 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It also states that there were 1,191 total delivered, so who knows how many were wrecked/decommissioned between 1980 and when the above statistic came out. Let's say there were 1,000 still in commission.

That's a 6.1% chance an MD-80 has had an accident in ~18 months.

Dang.

You're confusing "as of" with "since"

this news only proves that what we see on movie screens are actual events which can happen in our midst. However, we need to accept the fact that accidents can happen, whether you are soaring high in a plane or just staying at home...

Bad luck strikes again. All of these flights are singular events that just happen to fall somewhat close to each other. Trying to further piece together anything more than that is just bad logic.

That's what they want you to believe.
