i'm sure you've experienced some weird shit in prosper202. i'm often amazed by the strange phenomenon i see sometimes. here are some positive examples.

longtail goes crazy

a few days ago i started getting mad ppc traffic from a keyword that usually barley gets any searches. for about two hours (something must have been on the radio or tv that instructed people to search for this specific thing) i was the top bidder and happened to have an ad that appealed to the traffic.

at first i thought a click fraud bot had gone mad since every search was identical and i started getting nervous about the volume coming in like an avalanche. the CTR rate on the landing page was crap. still, it was reaching the right audience (although they were probably expecting something else) and the clicks were cheap even at the number one spot. i increased my daily budget x 4 to get all the clicks i possibly could when i discovered it was profitable.

it panned out and i got more conversions than i ever have for the day in new rebill niche i'm working in. ROI was also ideal. then suddenly the traffic died and everything went back to normal.

hole in one from a source that is known to have shit traffic

i experiment with traffic that i bash myself. sometimes i get curious and just have to try things, even if i'm almost certain the results will suck.

i set up a campaign a few days ago with a small ppc network and didn't get one click because i didn't add many keywords and none of them were general. i was just being lazy and meant to expand on it later but overall didn't care because i thought the traffic sucked. yesterday, one solitary click finally comes in and converts on a rebill. that was it. i got one fucking click and it converted. wtf? did the ad reviewer decide to reject my ad and then buy something from me?

if you have some similar stories, please share them.

I had a very similiar situation to your first story that happened to me once on MSN. I posted a thread about it on WF and the consensus was that maybe someone wrote about it on a blog or something. I got the exact long tail keyword about 100 times a day for about 5 days with really high conversions. It was a random longtail keyword that had nothing to do with my offer. It had to do with a local news story that happened 6 weeks prior. Strange.

I was in Vegas at a convention, and talked to one of the main guys from a Web Cam company who had landed a saudi prince via Pay Per Click. He had spent $500,000 on Web cam girls in the past year. It didn't make any sense to anyone... But it was just kind of, matter of fact.

There are a lot of people you can refer to cams who will drop $1k+ per week (and you get 20-40% for life depending on company) but $500k in a year is pretty insane.

Back in my adult days my first ever sale was to a paysite on which I was being paid revshare. That customer rebilled on that site for over 4 years, long after the site itself had closed. All said I made around $750 off him. Poor bastard.

Had two grant conversions from the same person the first on Yahoo and a couple days later on MSN
