As it turns out it's not your fault you're poor. Its genetic. How long until they market a pill to fix this?

Some people seem to get taken to the cleaners every time they buy a car, subscribe to TV service or get a new cell phone. New research suggests the problem might not be in their wallets, but in their genes.
Brain scientists are starting to get a handle on a relatively new disorder called "dyscalculia," which is loosely described as dyslexia with numbers. While plenty of people are insecure about their number skills, dyscalculics are bad at math in a very fundamental way: Studies indicate their brains can't even recognize groups of five or six objects, or link numeric symbols with their corresponding values.

Red Tape - Math disorder makes consumers easy prey

lol math disorder.

You ever think that this stuff isn't "disorders" ? Just what makes everyone different from each other. I mean if we could all do everything the exact same what a boring world this would be.

This being said, I just now realized my son when he was learning multiplication he would flip all the numbers in the weirdest way. And I remember thinking, it's almost dyslexic but with numbers. He's fine now, I guess he just learned how to flip them back or whatever you do to get your brain to recognize the "right"way to look at numbers.

How can a learned behavior be genetic? That's just fucken stupid.

LOL seems like the media makes almost every damn thing a disorder.

All in an attempt to make it seem as if some people have no choice?

If they can't do math "genetically" then bring a damn calculator and the problems solved. There's always a way around shit.

Money management/leadership isnt' genetic at all. It's the influence of the environment you lived around.

Maybe you should read T.Harv Eker's Secrets Of The Millionaire Mind book. It was good but the declarations part annoyed me lol.

This thread sounds like the typical responses you'd hear from a group of people with a very high IQ. You're not going to like to hear this, but most of you put in no more or less 'work' than the typical idiot, and even if you do... well that was also because of your genetics.
It's really easy to say its not genetics when you're lucky enough to have good genetics.

Fuckin' proles.

But seriously, I've always wanted to see what it was like in the mind of a less intellectually strong person, as arrogant as that sounds.

So now IQ gives you work ethic?

So now IQ gives you work ethic?
IQ makes you need less work ethic. Eg. I cruised through high-school and college (up to this point) rarely studying and writing all my papers in a couple hours the night before they were due. Not great work ethic, but I still have a 4.0. I have friends who spend hours a day doing school work and don't come close to my GPA. So IQ doesn't give you work ethic, but it can make up for your lack of it in areas.

IQ only helps up to a point, and GPAs are gay.

Average IQ + Strong Work Ethic > Strong IQ + Average Work Ethic

Edit: Btw I don't disagree that IQ makes you need less work ethic in relatively easy tasks.

I'd say this is nature versus nurture and nurture wins here. It has nothing to do with genetics, but i'm sure it does get passed down from generation to generation.

Something is FAR more powerful than math intelligence in determining if someone will be financially stupid. Math has almost nothing to do with it. It's psychology.

It's the simple fact that most of us believe that we are something special, and that we will be more successful in the future than we are now. This is why people take out credit even if they have no prospects. It's also why most people never save money and live paycheck to paycheck - even some millionaires. Then they're fucked when they lose their big source of income.

No one wants to believe that they're just another body thrown on top of a mass grave.. but that's what they are in the end. Just another rotting piece of flesh that no one will give a shit about in 100 years. "No sir, I'm something special, I have a FATE!!"
