I was just re-reading a page in ca$hvertising and I saw he quoted something from "Marketing Magazine". I then realized that these trade magazines could possibly had lots of information I should have...

A quick google of "Marketing Magazine" lead me to a canadian magazine which may or may not be what he was talking about.

Possible subscriptions I have found so far are

Marketing Magazine (CA) - Marketing Magazine
and
Advertising Age (US) - Advertising Age - Ad & Marketing Industry News

Does anyone get these? Are they worth a sub? What are some other alternatives?

There is OMMA the Online Media, Marketing & Advertising magazine.

I used to snag copies from the office when I worked for an adserving start up, lots of good info in players in that space.

In an example of monumental irony they have probably the shittiest website possible for a trade rag.

I think subscriptions were around 50 bucks a year.

Ad Age is geared toward the big Ad Firms like satchi & satchi -- last I checked Ad Age didn't even know AM exists.

I mean its interesting shit but its 'institutional advertising': got a $75 Million dollar a year budget? They'll help you sell a few cars -- maybe. Its not like they want to help you track results or anything. Cause if they did let you track the results of their ads, maybe you'd figure out that those TV commercials while funny; don't help people even remember the name of the product they are supposed to be selling.

Sure they acknowlege New Age Media and they know about the possibilities of Web 2.0, but for me -- they ain't in the trenches.

Wow what a rant -- but yeah there's a lot to be learned from trade specific magazines.
