The Content Fallacy

For those of you in SEO, how many pages of crap content gets pushed out for every page of "quality" content you are trying to rank on your site? I might write 800 words for my site and then I'll have to go and write thousands of words of very thin content to post to articles sites, 2.0's, and wherever else for backlinks.

I just had an epiphany moment when I saw the big picture. G wants quality content but they rank based on link value and quantity (in a nutshell, obvi.) So I contribute one decent article and then essentially spam out hundreds of pages of what some may colloquially refer to as "crap" to get it ranked.

It seems very contradictory and counter productive as far as the whole scheme of things go. However, as far as I go I'm just happy it works.

We are on to googlez, always have been. I think for them it's been a constant scrambling around trying to figure out other ways to rank sites, and keeping these new methods/algorithms on the down low. But the smart ones among our people always seem to figure them out, whilst the ones the actually follow their guidelines are essentially fucking themselves over. It's pretty lolerskates to watch.

o rly?

Google wants the mimic of authority. No more no less. Whether it be authoritative content, authoritative site structure or authoritative link building, no algorithm change will ever stray far from that. The people who say its all about this.. or its all about that.. are just algorithm chasers.

^ The God has spoken.

+1 from me on the diagram (minus the whole squirt thing, all it ever did for me was allow Eli to fuck my sister).
