I've always wondered about peoples tactics in this industry.

Are you a real marketer? Or are you just good at deceiving people?

Do you need a dark side to make it in this industry?

We all work for ourselves. We don't work for a certain company with a marketing team or with budget to play with that isn't ours. We either make it in this industry or we don't.

Creativity has always been a big thing in this industry, But when I look back at some of the big offers that have come and gone I notice that the main reason they did so well was how they were promoted.

Most of the new "creative" ideas that were making people rich were new ideas on how to mislead and deceive people.

Look at your offers that your making money on. Would you consider your work, the work of a good marketer? Or is your work only good at deceiving people?

In your opinion, Do you think you have to be deceptive to make it in this industry? Do you think to be a good marketer you have to be good at deceiving people? Is there anyone out there who can say they don't need deceiving and misleading websites to make their sales?

What do you call deceptive?

Promoting email submits? Nope, because they do get a free iPad/Dell Laptop/iPhone whatever, by completing the promotion. Now how long does it take to complete the promotion, is another question.

Rebills? Free trial brah. Adcopy doesn't say you're getting it for FREE, but the keyword trial is there. So not lying.

I duno what youre talking about bro.

not talking about the offers themselves. To me I don't care whats really on the offer page. I am talking about how you get them there wanting to buy.

example, You send someone to the offer page after they came from your fake news article website thinking you were a real news site or You send someone to a weight loss offer saying some famous celebrity endorsed it.

Most marketers response to this is "they should do their research" or "They need to read the fine print".

But that wouldnt change the fact that its misleading and deceptive.

Thats what I am getting at. Not the offers.

Eat or be eaten.

Isn't everything a fucking lie? I'm watching an anti-wrinkle skin cream commercial... Does that shit work? Highly doubt it. Slap chop. My friend bought one. Total piece of shit. Isn't marketing straight-up deception?

I have a few products that make fairly ridiculous promises. I'd rather oversell a product with great conversions than undersell it with lackluster conversions. If someone asks for their money back, I issue a refund immediately. No questions asked. So while I may be making wild claims, I always give people their money back. If I'm not getting refunds, then I'm not marketing properly.

Now, CPA shit is obviously a entirely different game, but your job is to convert-period- not philosophize on whether or not you're fucking people over.

To answer your question, I think good marketing is good deception.

1 trick to lose belly fat - are you fucking kidding me?

The answer is to get off your fat ass and go work out but its human nature to find that one easy trick to lose weight...

people already know losing weight takes lots of hard exercise + diet changes.. they know get rich quick schemes are BS. unfortunately for society but luckily for business and marketers like us people are mass brainwashed into thinking they need to buy random shit to be happy and look to objects for fulfillment. we are all subliminally bombarded with a retarded amount of logos, catchphases, cta's etc per day.. if you live in modern world that stuff is unavoidable..

TBH I had moral problems with pushing certain offers at first but then I remembered 99.8% of people seem to be assholes anyways,, that helped.

What's more deceptive, modern large scale bottled water marketing or CPA rebills?

I'm not talking about morals. More about your skills as a marketer I guess.

Let me make it easier to understand what im asking...

Could you actually market something legit and make money without lying your ass off and deceiving people? Or is the only reason your actually making money right now is because your good at misleading and deceiving people? Basically a Con Artist.

I have to agree with OnlineMoniez here,

most of what you see on tv, poster advertisements, billboards jeez - even adverts whilst your waiting to watch a movie at your hometown cinema!

The point of marketing and advertisement is to incite a sense of need and want in your target markets eyes which in turn gets them to buy your product or buy the product you are pre-selling for the affiliate program of your choice.

But I'm not for one second endorsing that you openly lie to your consumers in a deceitful manner, don't go giving off false screen shots, or bold claims that just aren't true.

You need to have truth in everything or else it is morally and ethically wrong. I mean sure, it's okay if you are going to add something like a beautiful girl on your dating site banner even if all of the girls in there are in fact MUNTERS, but you still need to be honest too.

I know I am kind of contradicting myself here so let me clarify before I close.

Marketing and Advertising is a tricky game, white lies are okay as long as they arent they are just that, small and none destructive to the clients, consumers or buyers.

If you are telling huge whoppers and blatantly lying through your teeth to get what you want then you are morally and ethically challenged and you need ot sort that out!

As OnlineMoniez said previously - ALWAYS offer a refund service / guarantee with your items, products or services and stick to them. There is nothing worse than having a shoddy product or service only to find that you can't complain or get your money back.

Be fair to people and you will go a long way, give back to peoplke and the community and you will go a long way. Lie, be deceitful and be plain mean to people and you will end up with no reputation (none worth having anyway).

SIMPLES

just my 2 cents.

inb4 scammer go into self denial... oh wait

I find it interesting that whenever there's a ethics/morals thread scammers immediately go into self defense mode and go on and on and on to justify what they do.

It's sad how you guys compare shitty rebills to legitimate products. Real products can always backup their claims. You an't say the same about your 2 step combo acai and colon offers at $80 a month are nothing but sugar pills.

When money comes easily the only problem people have is getting to sleep at night. When people push 5 figs a day they obviously need to feel good about what they're doing. And that can be fixed by just bullshiting yourself.

everything i push is legitimate. I leave the bull shit to scammers.

Easy money will never last, and these same affiliate will be broke in few year, talking about the good ole days of Affiliate marketing when they could make money "like older broke affiliates are doing today "easy Google landing pages, direct linking, banned seo tricks etc"

It's just a matter of time.

Slow, steady and legit always wins the race long term.

I make a ton off totally legitimate products by providing good info. when i start their was an friend doing the opposite. trying every clickbank get rich quick bs, acia, rebills, etc. Now I make a full time income and he made quick money, now doesn't make crap and gave up LOL.

i would never promote something i wouldn't buy. matter of fact my best way to find something to promote is to look at what i brought in the last year "simple"

you will fall in to diff affiliate camps. depending on where you got your start from.

clickbank, mlm, scammer marketing

Web publisher who looked to monetize.

i learned about affiliate marketing from the latter, my friend learn from the first.

stay away from the bullshit. if you would buy, don't promote it.

Damn I'd been waiting for a relevant time to post this one for awhile.

I don't get it? everyone here is a marketer regardless of deception.

Marketing: utilizing, forming and improving channels to sell to customers. As digital marketers our channels are our websites and social media. it doesn't matter what crap you fill the "channels" with, it's still marketing.

If it makes you feel any better big companies like Google screw with people too.
