College Conspiracy?

You're making $600k/year with your degree? Do you mind me asking what degree and what type of job you're doing now?

I majored in economics and business and I work in mobile app development. Doesn't really have too much to do with eco but it's more about the network and the business contacts I made during school.

Personally I think someone who goes to college and becomes highly successful is the type of person who would have figured out how to become successful even without college. College just helps you get there a lot faster, in most cases.

What amazes me is how many affiliate marketers don't recognize a sales pitch when they hear it.

You can bet your ass that the NIA is funded by those who have investments in gold and silver or even directly sell gold and silver.

Regardless, like all conspiracy flicks there's a lot of truth and facts in it. But of course their reason for the problems and their solution to the problems are always what is questionable.

Yeah, it's also a "conspiracy" that the dollar is becoming toilet paper and people are rushing into hard assets. Keep investing with that philosophy and you'll do just fine.

Didn't watch the video and couldn't give a crap. I pay my tuition because I'll have a guaranteed $100-$150k plus (that's cake in Canada) coming out of a relatively easy degree (Pharmaceutical Sciences) and my tuition is only about $10k a year...

...which I'd gladly pay for the privilege of banging girls that are a decade younger than I am 8-9 months of the year. Which I do, and I love.

I listened to the thing 34 minutes into it.

It is flawed. On several points. Here are my cliff notes to the flawed-logic of the video:

"The industrial economy is going down. We are going to descend into semi-anarchic, with Americans living below 3rd world standards."

Therefore the logic proceeds, there is not benefit to a college education.

Now, while anything might happen, and while I agree the dollar will continue to lose value, it is highly unlikely that the there will be a time when 'trash collectors don't come, tap water doesn't exist, there is no gas at the pump' (quote from the video).

Since this is a highly unlikely scenario, the answer if college is worth it very much depends on individual cases.

A genius self taught computer programmer who is always doing things might be better off not going for that liberal arts degree he wanted, he might be better off being a consultant, etc.

Now a lazy-dim-wit might be better off getting an MBA with some specialty related to economics/banking and get into the banking cartel.

Sweeping generalizations are generally quite flawed, and any view that sees things as 'simply' as this video does are generally oversimplifying to the point of absurdity.

the problem is so many people are going for bullshit programs and degrees that really don't benefit them aside from intellectual curiosity, and its a lot of stuff they could learn for free.

High schools shove it down students throats so that the school's numbers are better. If you go to major in a science, math, engineering, nursing, medicine, etc, then you need college...no way around it.

Thats funny because they actually talk about pharmacists in the video. I don't know if you are going to become a pharmacists, but I'm guessing thats what your trying to become. They talked about how the there was a big pharmacy hoax that pharmacists were in demand and that it wasn't true. It was a bunch of bullshit because a bunch of pharmacy schools were opening up and they needed to find paying students.

They say most of the people who got degrees to become pharmacists can't even find a job. You probably should start looking for one just in case this documentary is right about that lol.

Anyway I enjoyed it, but it was pretty obviously biased, But it does bring up a lot of good points.

1. You should only go to college for real jobs like mentioned above.

2. Your college degree is worth a lot less and will become more worthless as more people go to college.

3. Buy a farm not gold. lol.

One thing I do find ironic are the people who have degrees who come in here and bash the video like its the biggest lie in the world. Yet their jobs are probably affiliate marketing...

Well you can say AM does make more money, but why are you even here working on AM if your degrees were so awesome and were going to make you a lot of money anyway with your degree?

Sounds like some people couldn't even get a job with their degrees but still try to justify their investment (partying, meeting people, shit that has nothing to do with getting a degree in the first place).

This video is completely absurd! I was so compelled to express my thoughts after watching that I wrote a lengthy post on my blog scrutinizing the rediculousness of its claims. Too long to post here.....

I've never seen a university charge $3.5k for a year. MAYBE community colleges but that's it.
I was curious about this so I looked up tuition costs for a few local schools for two full time semesters.

University of North Carolina at Greensboro - 5.2k
North Carolina State University - 6.5k
University of North Carolina - 7.0k

This doesn't include any other costs. I also looked up a few community colleges in the local area and all three were 2.1k for two full time semesters.

this will of course depend on whether you are an in state student or out of state.

But hey guess what guys if you are an illegal alien you can go to school for the price of in state tuition while a person born in this country but does not live in the state of the school they are going to has to pay extra.

isn't this country great! they are handing it over piece by piece to the Mexicans and Chinese

The video is useful for understanding the concept of the college bubble, but of course there's a hidden agenda.
