LOL @ being happy with 2.5k month lol what can you do with it after paying rent and costs like fuck all - still its ok if its you hustling not as a fckin slave with a yearly salary increase equal to fckin inflation as on your own youd be doubling that in no time

tencent, i'd say i'm pretty close to this point now. i'm actually taking a vacation this week so i can work all week on IM..
how long were you consistently making more from IM than your day job before you quit?
never worked a "real job" a day in my life, started IM junior year of college. anyone just outta college should live with their parents for a couple years if possible while working on their own business because you barely have any personal expenses. get your shit going and then get your own place later
i didnt read the entire thread so dont know how old you are but if you have a big enough nest egg to last a year or so, just quit and do your own thing. you're only making 60k at your job anyway so who cares. that's barely even enough to live on, i'd never be happy with that. might as well take a risk and shoot for something better

Divide your 30k per year with the number of hours you put into. So you'll get dollar per hour amount. Do the same with the 60k per year gig. And compare both. Take the one that is paying higher. Of course this is considering all things fair - that your 30k a year thing is roughly stable (not PPC arbitrage shit).
That's my issue too, I had a real job for about 9 months after college. I was working at a 100 employee tax consulting company in LA. I quickly got promoted to running their IT dept after they figured out I was better at it than anybody else that they had (I was hired in a finance position). I was eventually fired for basically not giving a shit though. It's ok, I spent half my day writing code and building database for my websites.....not like they could tell. That just forced me to take the IM up to the next level and I had my income up to 6 figures within 6 months.
That's one thing I notice on IM forums is that there are some people that just "get it" and are doing it big within a year. Then there's others who toil away for years and are still waiting to quit their 'normal' jobs. I consider myself lucky in that I found one of the ways to get a solid income within a year of starting, but I wonder what areas of IM have crippled some people's ability to get going. Like I've seen posters in all sorts of IM forums with join dates of several years ago and thousands of posts, but they still aren't making over even $50k, let alone $100k.
I'll second what Danc1122 said. Owning a business is risky and it takes a lot of work (from personal experience) hence why most businesses fail. If that 30k isn't yet guaranteed I'd stick with the corporate job and work the IM on the side until I can afford to quit the day job.
Well, ask yourself do you prefer crawling towards death wasting your time in a job you hate or go down in a blazing fire and having a blast. Safety is fiction as you could get hit by a bus tomorrow. No insurances for that sry. I don't get all the safety thinking as one thing is inevitable. You won't live forever and probably don't need most of the stuff you buy so...

You either do it or you don't. There is no half-assed on the side trying to make it work business that ever gets off the ground. Only if you cut off all other options you will give it your best.

30k a year is more then the average person in the US makes isn't it?
isn't the average household income(two people)like 50k a year?
