My question is, who the hell do you guys talk to so much? I cannot STAND to talk on the phone for more than three minutes.

Agreed, i HATE talking on the phone, but i will do it if someone is lucky enough. I prefer text message . I have the sidekick3 so its easy and all. And i downloaded an APP to my sidekick that is a voice relay, so when i dont feel like having to call friends back and actually speak to them, i type what i want to say and an operator calls them and reads and relays the messages until the call is over. Thats how much i hate talking on the phone :)

Damn. Thats pretty cool. Ill have to look into that. I just ignore the ring altogether and listen to my voicemails while I have a smoke.

I dont even listen to voicemails.. i delete them all without listening. If its urgent, i like people to IM me or text me first, then i call back, if its business related, i always answer, etc.

I discourage people from leaving me voicemails by leaving LONG annoying voicemail greetings. Right now i have the recording of "you are a rotten slimy pig and i am going to fly out there and straighten you right out".. By alec baldwin.. but the entire full 2 minute recording, HAHA

Yeah why not.. I don't deal with anything in life or anyone that don't have a sense of humor. #1 rule in my life, only associate with people who have one.

Alright you Nextel fuckers, don't derail my thread =p

So Vonage has everyone's vote. Looks good to me. Anyone else use Skype?

What are the drawbacks of dropping regular phone service compared to Vonage/Skype?

I love you all for not plastering aff links all over this thread.

Which router you guys like? I've always been a fan of Netgear -- the
WGR613V looks pretty cool to me.

I had Vonage for a few months and I wasn't very happy with it. Often times the line quality coming in was good, but there would be points during the conversation where it would fade. It ended up coming down the the point where on every call would have that same issue. (no I wasn't running any bandwith hogging apps) I talked to technical support a few times and every thing was working fine on their end. I ended up dropping the service to switch back to my cellular.

I'm actually playing around with skype right now. Their 30/year unlimited calls looks really enticing. Also makes it more convincing that between In and out it's only 68 a year. I was paying that monthly with Sprint...

Thanks to sprint my asshole still stings.
