So I have a banana republic credit card that I never use. Got a promotional offer in the mail stating:

"Every purchase outside of our brands earns you another 200 bonus points - it doesn't matter how large or small your purchase is. That's on top of the 1 point per $1 you already earn"

1000 points = 10 gift card

Uh..... are they retarded? Seems too fucking simple to get large amounts of points / new wardrobe.

First thought was to go on amazon and buy a ton of grommets or whatever for $.40 w/ free prime shipping: [ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004ZKECAA?t=slickfilnet-20&tag=slickfilnet-20"]Amazon.com: Beru AG Ignition Wire Connector: Automotive[/ame]

Am I crazy?

Yes, it's an actual visa. Well, in terms of being efficient, online would be the easiest. Plus, suspicions would certainly be raised after the 10th time I'm going through the line in Walmart with a .10 item.

I know a lot of places have a $1 minimum purchase limit for CC's. Or maybe that was just for debit cards, I'm not sure.

.15 Amazon Gift Cards? You can redeem them at a later date and don't really spend any money.

Or do a bunch of Credit Card funded Paypal payments to yourself.

Who the hell cares what a Wal-Mart cashier thinks? They don't have a minimum for credit card charges and there are plenty of $0.10 items in there. Someone recently gave me 15 coupons for free 12-packs of Dr Pepper, but they expired at the end of August and you could only use one at a time. The cashier sat there and let me use each one separately. It took a whole 3 minutes.

Holy balls. I never knew you could order .15 gift cards. That is fucking amazing. Amazon is practically as good as cash for me. Time to whip me up a ubot script that will randomly enter a value between .15 and .25 cents. And then another to redeem them all to my account. Ding ding ding!

If this actually works, $300 in amazon gift cards = $2000 in banana gift cards. I can easily spend $1000 on Amazon in a single purchase. There's no way in hell they'll let this go through. This offer is just set up to be scammed.

Spend $3 million on Gift Cards and make 20 mill?

WHAT???

Read the T&C there's probably something written there that would prevent something like this from happening?

This reminds me of Punch Drunk Love with the airline miles scam. Didn't he end up buying like 10 pallets of apple sauce or some shit?
I totally forgot that setup in Punch Drunk Love. Thank you for reminding me.

I want to try this just to see if I can meet a Manic Pixie Dream Girl...

You've obviously never seen the shit-show that is the average day at a Walmart, you wouldn't even crack the top 10 of suspicious people there :)

Gonna be tough to do. Most merchant accounts charge a % + flat fee per transaction. For example, $0.30 per transaction + 2.25%, or whatever. Find a friend with a merchant account willing to help, and willing to get their account red flagged. They can bang the shit out of your card with a bunch of $0.35 transactions.

I have friends that set up scripts in FF to buy these gift cards (I thought in $0.10 increments but I could be wrong). There is, or was, a similar Hyatt promotion. 10 bonus points / transaction or something. They were getting free hotel rooms every week. Not sure if its still working now. Eventually enough people game the system and it gets shut down like the frequent flier / government coin program. If you don't know about it, its a great read.

If you're real into points / miles, there are forums out there like flier talks or whatever. Me, I just take the cash back.

I just reread the OP and saw what you got for a transaction. I might have to get on this..

Just checked. Its $0.15 increments. Talked to one of the guys, it wasn't Hyat's program, but some other program that he transfers the points to Hyat.
