Even if Iran did have nukes, they don't even have the capability of hitting Israel right now as the missiles they currently use top out at 800 miles. Seeing that we're 6000 miles away, why is everyone in the US so worried about Iran putting together a nuclear program that is somehow going to hurt us in the near future?
 


Their only argument is usually "Israel is our ally and we must protect them. Iran wants to wipe them off the map." That's their only defense, and they're usually christian.

Why are people scared of AIDS? The virus is so tiny!

Honest answer:

1) Remember what happened with India and Pakistan with the nuclear near-showdown.

2) Remember that Pakistani scientists tried to sell nuclear secrets on the black market to terrorist groups.

3) Remember that Iran is still in many ways a theocracy, and suicide missions aren't exactly foreign to extremist Islamic interpretations.
 
Without getting into all the crap about protecting Israel (because the US is getting into wars for its own reasons, some of them nobel and some are disgusting) you are presenting wrong facts.

The Iranians already have the capability to bomb Israel, they might not have the missile that could carry a nuke warhead but that is only a question of time, they get their weaponry from China & Russian and they are not lacking on long distance missile tech.

Even without the need to bomb Israel from afar they can easily use Lebanon or Gaza, both not under the control of Israel.

But wait, about two months ago a secret missile facility in Iran had an "accident" and something exploded, killing many of the top people in the Iranian missile research team. This facility was about one thing - developing long range capabilities for missiles to reach the USA (mainly east coast). The Iranians have a long history with the US, even if you are unaware of it, millions of Iranians open their day by stamping on US flags and chanting "Death/Down to/with America".

The Shi'a cause is at the heart of Iranian ideology and they will not hesitate to kill in its name, Israel is called the "small devil" - the US is the big one, and if Israel falls the west will start to feel the heat.

Do not mistake the talk about Iran and Israel, it is just a cover for the real thing, the fear of all the Soni Arab countries in the Mid East of a nuclear Iran (Saudi's a pissing of fear), the economical pressure on the US from those Arab countries and the US fear that one day a missile will land in Boston, on top of it all there is the justified Israeli fear of a nuke, simply because for the last 5 years every Iranian official is saying that soon Israel will be wiped off the map.
 
Iran was always the big cash prize for the neocons and their Saudi sodomist cock buddies.

Seriously though, has nothing to do with the safety of Israel. I mean, how did the US propaganda machine manage to convince people that Iran is about to invade Israel? That's such a ludicrous notion, it's sad. Everyone knows that if Iran attacked Israel, Iran would turn into a sheet of glass within about 3 hours. Not even Russia or China would back Iran if they attacked Israel.

All the hoopla is simply because they're scared shitless because Iran might end up in a position where they can actually defend themselves, and/or properly retaliate against an invading force. Can't have that... best to start WWIII instead.

Similar to what Matt said; because we are TOLD to be scared of Iran. The MSM CONSTANTLY reports on it in a scary way and never mentions inconvenient facts like:

A. There still is no proof of a nuclear weapons program at all in any way.

B. Iran practically BEGS for peace with the UN and USA every chance it gets but it's usually the USA that cuts off nuclear disarmament talks.

C. Iran is actually one of the most peaceful nations in the entire middle east; the anti-warmonger. All wars you've ever heard of there in modern history were them defending themselves from invasion.

D. Our entire history of doing harm to Iran that would obviously put them in a victimized light comparred to us.

E. The entire petrodollar thing, which gives the USA a motive to start war against them for simply trying to sell their oil elsewhere.

F. General Clark's admitting that we'll be going to war with Iran some year soon... Back in 2005 or so.​

With all of these facts hidden from the drooling Idol watchers, it's much easier to get them to be OK with yet another undeclared war.

Well, of course they're researching nukes, and that's fine. I mean, they're surrounded by US troops in every direction, and the US already invaded two of their neighbors, so of course they want nukes. And they should be allowed to have them.

Sad part is, if the US & Israel become the aggressors in this conflict, and fire the first shot, I think there's a good chance Russia and China will back Iran, and that will cause absolute hell on the world. That will be WWIII, and not a period of time any of us want to live through. If war breaks out in Iran, and especially if the US are the aggressors, I don't think China and Russia will sit on the sidelines like they did with Iraq and Afghanistan. Iran is very much in their national interests too, and they're not going to let the US take the entire middle east.

To think Iran is going to be an aggressor in global conflicts though is absolutely insane. They're surrounded by US troops, intelligence is gathered, military plans drawn up, a couple US carrier groups in the region, a few US nuclear subs secretly floating around, each armed with 18 triple tipped trident nuclear missiles, and that's just the tiny bit I do know (which isn't much).

Iran is in such a corner, it's basically impossible for them to make an aggressive move. And if they ever did, the shit storm that would reign down on them would make the "shock & awe" Baghdad campaign in 2003 look like an 8 year olds fireworks kit display.

2. Tell everyone you've foiled a Iranian terror plot.
3. Test the emergency broadcast system, planting fears.
4. Fly spy drones over Iran until they get pissed enough to take one down.
5. Claim Iran was involved in 9/11.
6. Tell everyone Iran is testing rockets.
7. Piss off Iran further by killing an Iranian nuclear scientist.

It's really about 40 or 50 people doing this, and when they turn off the cameras, everybody puts away the signs and goes about their business.

That was not what was originally said. It was a poor translation. When Ahmadinejad made that statement, he meant he wanted the world to see the region one Palestinian state, and not recognize Israel as a sovereign nation.
