Afghan Civilian Shootings by American Solider

Damn, twice in a row. You win again.

Alrighty, I'll play your game troll. Have you actually stopped to think about what it is I wrote, and what it is you wrote? Let's look now...

Nah, just the fact that the first thing most people say is "he probably went insane" when it's a non-Muslim, which I don't know how you can claim is the truth already.

Saying "sounds like..." or "probably..." is not claiming any truth, it's purely speculation. It's the most likely scenario without knowing more facts and looking at the statistics. Perhaps he WAS politically motivated to go shoot up a bunch of women and kids. Perhaps he thought it might end the war or something. Perhaps he's a religious nut job doing his god's work. Perhaps, like previous military shootings, he was hell bent on murderous revenge after seeing his buddies blown up and shot up for the past 10+ years. Who the fuck knows.

Either way does it make it justifiable?

Of course it doesn't. Why are you asking such stupid fucking questions?

Maybe, maybe not. Either way, that thinking needs to change.

I disagree,

Why most suicide bombers are Muslim

The linking of suicide bombers with sex made this one of his most controversial theories.

But while suicide missions are not always religiously motivated, when religion is involved, it is always Muslim, says Kanazawa.

Kanazawa states that in societies where polygyny is allowed – taking more than one wife, such as in Islam - there is a necessary number of men who are unable to mate because of the simple mathematics involved.

He says this is what makes men more violent or aggressive – they are competing for a mate.

According to his theory, this increased competitive pressure on men ‘increases the likelihood that young men resort to violent means to gain access to mates because they have little to lose and much to gain by doing so, compared to men who already have wives.’

This is why, across all societies, polygyny increases violent crimes, such as murder and rape, even after controlling for such obvious factors like economic development, economic inequality, population density, the level of democracy and world regions.’

He goes on to say that the idea that 72 virgins await a martyr can inspire young men in this situation to go on to become suicide bombers.

He writes: ‘For young, low-status Muslim men who are excluded from any mating opportunities because of polygyny among older, higher-status men, even such a vague promise in the afterlife begins to be appealing in light of their bleak reproductive prospect on earth.’

OH SHIT 15 AFGHAN CIVILIANS KILLED?????!!!!!!!!

That makes it 100,015 civilians killed. Huge news.

Maybe, maybe not. Either way, that thinking needs to change.

Change only comes about when both sides are willing to make the effort. It's the basics of conflict resolution.

Unfortunately you can't easily change the mind of a fundamentalist, aka, a zealot.

First time I've been called a troll, damn that hurts. Name calling and I'm the 6 year old.

I'm just saying that if it was a Muslim who did that, there would be no "probably" or "sounds like." There would just be the terrorist label. Muslims don't really get all these different scenarios being played out.

The reason I asked the question is because your response made it seem like it wasn't a big deal that it happened because it was an American soldier. I apologize but I think it's a big deal that innocent people, of any faith, were killed by a soldier. First burning the Quran and now this, things are just not looking good and it's concerning to think what Afghan civilians could do if this isn't handled correctly. I hope the best for both sides though, don't need civilians lashing out against soldiers and/or vice versa.

My apologies. It felt like you were putting word in my mouth and I was annoyed. It's late and I need a nap.

You're right, but without knowing more details, which we're even less likely to learn than in this scenario, all we can do is assume a Muslim shooting a bunch of Americans is politically and/or religiously motivated. It's easy and convenient.

I try not to get too worked up about things that I have no control over. It's a shitty deal for lots of people all over the world on a daily basis for more reasons than I can count. If I were murdered tomorrow I hardly think any stranger half way around the globe would think it a big deal. They would shrug their shoulders and get on with their life.

There were over 14,000 IEDs planted in 2010 alone and they weren't set by regular troops in uniform. The "civilians" are already lashing out at the soldiers there and they are hiding in homes amongst the women and children. It's not so clear cut. It's a fucking mess and it's time to end it and leave them to their own devices.

I will never be the person to put words into anyone's mouth, I apologize if I came out that way. It is pretty late and apparently I cant spell soldier when I'm tired as hell. I accept your apologies and thank you for explaining yourself, it's good to see all sides.

I really empathize with innocent killings of any race or faith and I just see it as a bigger deal than most people. Double standards for these types of things shouldn't occur. When a Muslim kills innocent people that is just as horrible. I agree that we need to get out and let the Afghan's be, this is just turning out to get worse and worse.

Anyway glad we could handle this as adults and not name call. Time to sleep it off.

The problem is that you believe in the tribal bullshit that is "us versus them" - muslim versus non muslim, american vs foreigner, black versus white, all the same bullshit.

Before you say this isn't what you believe, consider that you only posted a news story about muslims killed, when I'm sure there were many other killings recently.

I believe you are making a semantical mistake here. The soldier is a criminal (if he is guilty of the charges) but not a terrorist.

An individual soldier who was at any given circumstances in which he did not have reasonable fear for his life, ends up killing many civilians has violated many of the army codes and is a criminal. The actions of that one soldier does not paint the whole army in those colors.

To remind you, the army you are protesting against here is the one that liberated this country from real terrorists, in form of bearded men who beheaded 7 year old girls for being born a Shi'a Muslim (and not a Soni), who punished people harshly for playing music, who raped and murdered hundreds of girls and women and forced medieval, sorry - stone age law upon a whole population of a country.

And while you bitch about how terrible the invaders are (while Muslim on Muslim violence claimed the lives of dozens daily - for years and years) this country own constitution states that women are second class - according to religious traditions, the same country also maintains that it is for exclusively Muslim (not Afgan or Arab) which is something you probably would go nuts about if it was to happen in the US.

Of course he's a terrorist. But he was before he did this, all troops occupying foreign lands usually are.

Don't worry fellow Americans, I will protect you from these terrorizers!
