The Saints Get Fucked HARD

latest report states newton, rodgers, warner etc all had tags on their head. I retract my statement about the penalty being too harsh. I do not retract that goodell is making all these moves (for better or worse)for the sole purpose of owner money.

I am so tired of ticky-tack flags over protecting WR and the QB, etc.

But if that's the way the NFL wants to do it, though - then fine.

Honor the league, Williams, Payton.

All the NFL has done for these guys and they lied directly to Goodell's face.

Goodell should have gone after the players too.

and what's wrong with a little violence? isn't that half the fun of watching NFL as opposed to baseball?

Probably because those who like the violence in football will probably keep watching football even when the sport is reeled in a little bit, while a lot of people who wouldn't watch football because it was violent are a lot more likely to now.

I know people like my Mom would have never watched football 10 years ago, but she now watches it sometimes; in part because of the connotation surrounding football isn't nearly as rough and tumble as it was in the past.

They are. Goodell is working with players union to decide on action.
Wow.

I wonder how far he'll get. It might depend on how far off union/league negotiations are.

NFL is true monopoly. We'd all be better off with competing leagues.

I think there's some truth in that but there's an even bigger reason for him to hand down these major penalties. Now that there is proof of big hits and multiple concussions causing brain problems later in life, there are something like 50 or so lawsuits being filed by previous NFL players. So Goodell is quickly trying to clean up the league so he looks good in front of a judge.

That's really the jist of it. The comish works for the owners, not the players. Obviously in order to protect the league it has to be done. I don't really understand how former players that are suing have a legal leg to stand on but that's the judicial system for you.

Full contact sports = people getting hurt, sometimes permanently, bounty or no bounty.

fucking pussies.

They should have kicked him out of the NFL.

The violence is OK, but paying players to put people out of the game is pathetic. What a bunch of sissies. I bet they'd be singing a different tune if the shoe was on the other foot.

While football is obviously a violent sport and injuries are part of the game, putting bounties on other players will cause injuries to happen which might not have happened otherwise. Just one example that comes to mind: a unsuspecting QB is about to get sacked. The linebacker who knows he has a guaranteed tackle might ease up a bit knowing he has the sack no matter what. The linebacker looking for a bounty might try to kill the QB even though he doesn't need to, just to injure him for the cash.

Sure, the bounties were small enough that it probably wasn't that huge of an incentive, but if a message wasn't sent by the NFL, bouties could have gotten out of hand. Espcially if they started working well.

Latest is, now Goodell is getting close to stripping the Saints' Super Bowl title from them.

Not sure if they are going to take it away completely, or place an * at the end of it. Either way, it's going way too far.

NFL Set to strip NO Saints 2009 Superbowl win from the record book...

What a pansy league this is turning out to be

I'm really slipping lately. Maybe I need to get checked out at the doctor.
