What kind of Cardio routines are you guys using?

I alternate between weight lifting and spinning class 5-6 days a week. As someone else said, spinning might sound gay (making it perfect for gay webmasters), but it's a great cardio workout and if you give it your all, you're totally beat afterwards. Takes about an hour, and the instructor pushes and guides you all the way through

Also, this is why there are always so many chicks at these things

Crossfit bear workout:

Crossfit is usually a huge pile of gay hipster shit and theyll discriminate against everyone who will join now that its mainstream, but the bear workout is the shit. Best cardio workout in the world, fixes your posture and gives you some strength if you dont have the balls to do a regular barbell routine. Just take a couple minutes to learn the technique of each exercise. Youll do them at less than 50% of your max so only real morons injure themselves doing the bear.

Shit is pretty much spinning on steroids. Only problem is finding a gym that allows that. But since youre all huge ballers, youll be able to afford a real barbell and some light weights. Start with the empty bell, thats probably way more than you can handle anyway.

Expect sick full body soreness the first time you do it.

Disregard cardio - lift weights.

Seriously, cardio is very overrated. Weightlifting burns more calories for up tp 48 hours while cardio only does so for a few hours. Bigger muscles need more energy, again burning more calories.

Cardio is good for cardio and your lung capacity, but weight lifting (heavy) will give you the most benefits imo.

At 45 minutes, you're starting to burn muscle in addition to fat. I'd stick with 30-35 minutes. 165 also seems a little high. Your fat burning zone is probably more around 130-150 bpm depending upon your age.

Thank you for bringing this up. It's been almost a year since I've been in my routine and I just started back up a couple of weeks ago. I've still seen some muscular gains but you are spot on with the BPM and I totally miscalculated, for some reason I remembered 165, but what I really used to target was 145, which is in my target range.

Re-researching all of this also made me change over to HIIT. The main reasons being Testosterone & HGH production. Pretty exciting stuff that during HIIT training your body releases Testosterone and HGH, but it does NOT release these hormones during low-intensity cardio. Moderate cardio (what i've been doing at 165bpm) releases Cortisol, but without the HGH and Testosterone to balance it out... = nightmare for muscle retention.. again thank you. For those that don't know, Cortisol is basically anti-muscle and pro fat-storage. Low-intensity cardio doesn't induce corstisol production, but you also don't get the added benefit of the Testosterone and HGH. So HIIT it is from now on, 20 minutes, goin hard!

Fuck cardio, just work on your diet.

I've been following the Lean Gains method for over a year now.

Basically it's a more simplified approach to dieting and lifting weights. The main philosophy behind is 16/8 fasting(Where you fast for 16 hours straight and eat big in the next 8 hours) combined with lifting big 3 times a week. It might not be for everyone but lemme tell you something...its fucking LIBERATING.

I dont remember the last time i had breakfast or did normal cardio. And yet my lifts have exploded, and i improve almost every week. It just works.

The only time investment is 3x45min per week for your training sessions, thats it. The only "cardio" recommended is brisk walking 45 mins 2-3 times a week on an empty stomach, and you might not even need that, depending on how satisfied you are with your physique.

Question for people doing cardio: when you are on the treadmill how hard does the workout feel when your heart is say at around 160?

Reason I ask is that I started running on the elliptical a month or two ago and I can easily get my heart to 160-170 without really trying too hard, like I don't feel tired or out of breath or anything like that, and I normally run on it for about 30 minutes.

do deadlifts and squats. alternate, do supersets if you're very brave, whatever works.

by 3-4th sets - you'll be cardioing in your pants. hella fun.

also i was looking at this -

This. Slow or flat cardio is a joke, and if that's all you are doing, expect shit results.

High intensity interval training.

HIIT has been proven scientifically to not only burn more calories but actually improve indurance as well as achieve better long distance running results than regular cardio.

I like to row using the row machine (setting 5-6) for 10 minutes pyramid increase in rows pr. minute going up 2 rpm pr. 2 minutes going from 20 to 30. That is a sure way to get the heart beating.

I live in a valley with mountains around it...climbed one of the mountains yesterday for cardio (90 minutes after a full leg workout...regretted it multiple times). Otherwise my routine is more of the sissy cardio variety (treadmill at incline) which is used solely for additional calorie expenditure on top of a 5-day lifting routine. Good enough for guys like Wheeler and the former bodybuilding champions that hang around the gym talking about the old days, good enough for me.

I saw a very noticeable difference in just about every physical aspect when I started doing HIIT. Great thing is, it can be applied to anything really. Lifting, elliptical, running, etc.

From Yahoo Answers "Spinning Class Orgasm Possible"?
I am male, so I know little or nothing at all about female orgasm, other then what I am told or led to believe. Granted I have been in many relationships with women and I think I know what it looks like, but can any man fully understand all the mechanics. I have been involved in cycling most of my adult life, and I have been a spinning instructor for 7 years. The key to being a good instructor is a good following and that means putting on a great class. Many women tell me I do a great job, they love the intensity, the music and the program I have put together. Probably withing the last three years I have come into my own, and well I swear I have seen what I thought was women having orgasm. Its embarrassing for me to even think that, and I have attributed it to my forever male adolescence. Once again, key to being a good instructor is maturity in dealing with problems and not coming off as some perve in front of the class. I am careful of what I say, the music and how I come across in class. This conclusion has not been something that I just thought up one day. Some things that have led me to believe this is what I have seen, comments made to me and special requests in class. The first time I thought was during a class where it was warm, the heater was up a little high and we were all sweating buckets. I was in the class, not instructing, the lady next to me closed her eyes and began sliding forward and back in the seat while we were doing races, she was making those noises and after wards when we got up her seat was drenched.I dismissed it as well we were sweating, but it was a lot and well I can tell the difference. Its rare I see anything I would think of as women having orgasm, but things have happened enough for me to think maybe it happens. Granted most often bike seats are not the most pleasurable things and many women have asked me to adjust their seats to alleviate pain. Some seat adjustments I question where they make contact. What made me come right out and ask the question is something that happened to me a few nights back. I was instructing doing intervals and again it was warm but at about the 30 minute mark into the class I had them put on resistance, a young women began pushing down on the saddle, grinding into it, then began contorting her body in exaggerated moves, closed her eyes and started moaning then pick up the pace, then just almost stopped. I lost focus and it was obvious to the class I had. Anyhow finished the class and was approached by a lady who said it was disgusting what happened and that I should tell this certain women to behave herself. The regulars are very friendly and open with me and sometimes they joke around. I was not to sure of what happened but I am positive it was something.
I came. Master literotica troll.

I used to do elliptical and running but it starts to hurt my knees.

I now do the step machine and swimming.

I think the most important part about cardio is intensity -- bringing your heart rate as high as possible for as long as possible.
