Ok, which one of you is this?

Here's how the Canadian SEO guys do it!

Scroll to about 18:30. Can't believe the guy actually went on national TV in front of some of the wealthiest people in the country a) looking like that, and b) asking for money for what is essentially a MFA site.

Shitty business, BUT... It pisses me off though how none of them understands what Google Adwords is. They have absolutely no idea of what IM is so it's totally pointless to even try to explain it to them.

Back to the OP, Fuck you gotta love hating Kevin O'Leary! What an ass. He makes my blood pressure rise when I watch him on both Dragon's Den and Sharks Tank. It's like his sole purpose is to humiliate people. He's not there to do business. He's there to show how powerful he is on national TV. Entertaining though.

They rank third for "Stand Up Paddle Board" not a bad result.

It's not easy to walk in and ask for money and especially when they don't understand you. I get those types of people all the time. They think because they've talked to 10 SEO guys, they are experts themselves. They always listen to the guy with the best sales pitch, who usually has the worst results.

I don't have a sales pitch. I tell them how it is and they either like me or they don't. Honesty can be a double edge sword. People with big egos hate feeling that they are wrong or don't know anything about what they are doing and when your knowledgeable you tend to make them feel that way.

I would have come back at Cuban and said, will you match Mr Spectacular's deal at 25%, he didn't even ask. The worst thing he could have said was no and still took him at 30%.

Also if your such a horrible presenter, get someone else to do it or use video / presentation to show off what your selling. Still it's not easy so props to him but the winging it part didn't go as well as I think he wanted.

Challenging anyone's world view or vision of themselves is interpreted by the croc brain as a psychological attack on their identity.

I don't have a sales pitch.
Everyone has a sales pitch, whether they intend it or not.

in an interview O'Leary said that througout dragons den and shark tank, he invested in 17 businesses and only 2 made money, but those two made enough to make up for the loss of the rest (didnt say which 2). I guess thats why he is so carefull

We actually graduated from the same college and we have mutual friends. They actually filmed this episode last summer. I believe he said it was about a 6-week process of intense interviews and working with the producers to gather as much data about his business before he made it through to the final round.

He also owns a poker chip business that was very popular during the poker boom and ranked 1st page of Google for "poker chips" (buypokerchips.com)

Getting on that show he got the full "Cuban effect" and his business literally tripled that month after the episode ran. In fact, he already has paid Cuban $50k back of the $150k investment... not bad!

He has a physical store in San Diego but most sales are online. That exposure as lead to a sick amount amount of backlinks (PR, news, interviews, etc) he's received since it's aired simply couldn't be bought, lol.

Watched this episode last night. I felt awkward watching him talk. No doubt he knows his SEO stuff though.

Has anyone else considering going on the show? I've considered applying for it.

Haha I just saw this last week.

I would choose Cuban as an investor just for the social proof it gives you for the rest of your life.

I know that every single business conversation I had would contain the sentence:

"So when Mark Cuban invested in my last company we..."

So when a deal like that is done, which involves the dragons having an input in any future businesses the guys involved in, how does this normally work? Will this be for 5, 10 years or something?

Nice show.
