Ron Paul Ends Primary Campaign

damn Nicky - you still dont understand the difference between votes and delegates do you? Here's a hint - primaries mean nothing. Delegates mean everything.
Lukep posted that Ron Paul has basically already won. As we approach the 3rd month of the ground war with Iran, I look forward to him taking office and ending that long national nightmare. Also legalizing doobage brah!
He isn't really dropping out is what I get from this, but just isn't spending money campaigning and is going to let the delegate strategy move on. It's still going to disrupt the convention in some way
I'll admit, I've gotten quite the education on the primary delegate process on here over the past several months. News like this just makes me laugh in contrast to luke's posts like:

Yeah it definitely doesn't mean he's going to win, but it also doesn't mean he's going to lose. It actually means nothing because only the votes of delegates count and Ron Paul is doing very well with that. It's actually pretty similar to the general election for President. Not many people truly understand that only 538 people actually get to vote for President. All the other shit is just entertainment for the people.
It also just came out that no delegates can be bound by any state to vote for any candidate at the national convention. That was the only thing that could have thwarted Ron Paul's delegate strategy. Now that all his delegates in every state get to actually vote for him it makes it extremely unlikely that Romney will ever get the 1,144 delegates for the nomination. I don't want to say its impossible but I can't see the math that gets him to 1,144.
The interesting thing is Ron Paul may not get to 1,144 either and with a brokered convention anybody can be nominated so we could see Palin, Herman Cain, Chris Christie, Jeb Bush etc all throw their hats in the ring. It looks like the convention is going to be like nothing seen since Warren Harding worked the process 2,000 years ago (rough estimate).
edit: on a side note, the RNC and DNC are not government agencies, they are private organizations so they are not bound by any election laws. They can both nominate a ham sandwich at their national convention if they wanted to. They can also change the rules and make shit up as they go, so expect shit to get real interesting as it appears we're going off script...

The nomination is pretty much out of reach at this point all things considered. The movement within the GOP toward being truly fiscally conservative and socially liberal (or tolerant, i guess) is huge though. Ron Paul might not be our president but his people are re-shaping the party and I think that might turn out to be more valuable in the long run.
